It’s been seven years to the day since Jakob Uszkoreit, along with eight Google researchers, published their groundbreaking 2017 paper Attention is All You Need. In the paper, the authors described a novel machine learning model architecture called Transformer that was later used in popular applications including OpenAI’s Chat-GPT. Since then, Jakob has realized he wanted to apply these AI models to science and use this groundbreaking technology to solve some of the biggest questions in biomedicine. And he has done just that with Inceptive. They are leveraging generative science to discover new mRNA combinations and create vaccines.
We are proud to support Jakob Uszkoreit and the team at Inceptive. Their work is bilingual in the languages of biology and computer science, and they are building AI models to produce new mRNA therapies. https://lnkd.in/gneEYtf9

Andrew Beebe discusses AI-driven climate solutions, the need for more clean power to meet rising demand, and a variety of other tech trends that are shaping what he calls “the climate decade” on this episode of the Carbon Copy Podcast with Stephen Lacey.
The next phase of climate tech is generative science. I spoke to Stephen Lacey on The Carbon Copy podcast about how #Gensci will shorten the distance to massive solutions in batteries, solar, nuclear, and geothermal. Always great to talk to Stephen!

Why are we so bullish on generative science? As our Managing Director Andrew Beebe recently shared with Heatmap News: “AI is going to help basically expand the edge of what is physically or scientifically possible because of the rate of iteration of different designs. https://lnkd.in/gUK6uGGs

We're honored that our 2024 World Positive Report won an award at San Francisco Design Week. The incredible team at Pineapple brought the report to life with layers of puzzles designed by the masterful Scott Kim and our own James Joaquin. In the judges' own words: "On top of the world-class editorial content, Scott created the mechanics for the puzzles and Pineapple expressed the puzzles in the overall designs of the book, disguising the puzzles in the stories, the margins, and the physical printing of the report. The resulting design is a serious report highlighting Obvious’ portfolio companies’ successes while hiding the puzzles in plain sight." https://lnkd.in/e3-x5ejP
