The Consumer Products Investment Team at Octopus Ventures engaged our services to gain insights into the spending habits of Generation Z. Leveraging our specialized search engine, we collected data from 10,000 sources related to Gen Z spanning the past few years, culminating in the creation of an AI-generated report. This insightful report served Octopus internally for their investment deliberations. Additionally, the report was used to advise start-ups. In fact, one of these start-ups shared that our report provided the guidance needed to navigate the competitive landscape of the educational technology (ed-tech) market. The report's guidance enabled the start-up to pinpoint their focus and set a clear course in this dynamic landscape. Despite the turmoil in the venture market over the last two years, we have seen great deal flow. We’re proud to highlight several recent investments: Deep Cognition, FreightPOP, Jolie, OpsLab, Vivifi Medical. We are excited to support the continued innovation of each of these companies.   As we look to the second half of 2024, it remains to be seen what the market’s steady state will be. We’re observing the following trends: 1. AI continues to dominate the conversation. But sustained value remains uncertain, as current applications may not deliver the outsized returns needed to justify costly infrastructure investments. 2. Private companies continue to focus on fundamentals and profitability. 3. Strategic bridge rounds have risen for later-stage startups as M&A markets remain suppressed. 4. Investor-friendly financing terms remain due to low fundraising activity and exit opportunities.

Very insightful day at Project A Ventures' annual knowledge conference #PAKcon23. Here are some learnings👇 ■ It's super awesome that we might have proper ESOP mechanisms to incentivize talent to join startups quite soon. Christian Miele shed some light on putting this and other issues we face as the startup ecosystem on the politicians' agenda. Can't imagine how much patience it requires for such system-changing initiatives to come to fruition. ■ Merantix founder Dr. Rasmus Rothe and Jana Pelchen from Project A shared their take on the Generative AI trends in 2024. 1. Multimodality, 2. Autonomous agents and machine-to-machine interaction, 3. hyper-personalization. ■ Did you know that over 4B people state that they actively play video games in some shape and form? and over 90% of Gen Z's play games - more than any preceding generation? GAMIFYD's founder Felix Schuetz shared strategies for and examples of engaging this audience to drive growth. ■ Finally, I loved the on-stage chat between Project A's Mila Cramer and Felix Capital's founder Antoine Nussenbaum about the future of consumer tech. Felix Capital looks through a unique lens at startups that might not be obvious when looking at a somewhat eclectic collection of startups in their portfolio. Yet Antoine explained that, more than anything, the ability to forge a relatable, authentic brand is always one of the top investment criteria.
