Today on National Internship Day, we want to give an extra big thank you to each one of our interns for their great contributions so far this summer (not all interns are pictured). ⚡ NV Energy’s intern program began a few months ago with 16 interns joining in the south and 15 in the north. The group of sophomores, juniors and seniors have been hard at work gaining first-hand experience across our company. #NationalInternDay #NVEnergy

⚠ NV Energy would like to remind its #NorthernNevada customers that flash flooding and mud slides may cause underground gas pipes and electrical conduit to become exposed or undermined, which can be a safety risk. ⚠ Exposed or undermined pipe and conduit may be more easily damaged by rocks, debris, and other external forces. If you see exposed or undermined pipes, please contact NV Energy immediately at 775-834-4100 to help determine the appropriate response, inspection, or repairs to the facilities. If you detect a natural gas smell (rotten eggs), evacuate the area immediately and call 911 and NV Energy at 775-834-4100. Learn more about gas safety at: https://lnkd.in/eyySNkh

Around 1:40 a.m., NV Energy crews were able to restore power to all customers who were affected by the #SpringValleyFire. Thank you to our hardworking crews for working around the clock. ⚡ They will remain in the area today for cleanup, but we do not anticipate any power outages related to this part of their work. Thank you to our customers for your patience and understanding during this proactive emergency de-energization. #ThisIsWhatWeDo

#SpringValleyFire: Our crews have been working safely and diligently since gaining access to the affected areas this morning to assess the damage to NV Energy equipment and begin making necessary repairs to restore power. While there is more work ahead for our crews this evening, we anticipate being able to start restoring power to the remaining affected customers late this evening and fully restoring all customers to power the morning of Thursday, July 18, pending any changes on scene.     Repair work included:   - Replacing five spans of wire down along U.S. 395   - Replacing three spans of wire down on Spring Valley Drive  - Replacing five damaged poles, one of U.S. 395 and four on Spring Valley Drive.    Last year, teams from NV Energy’s Power Safe NV program installed fire mesh on 300 poles in the area, to help protect wood poles from fire damage. The fire mesh on the poles helped protect the poles from the worst effects of the fire and made the repairs easier for our crews.     After power is restored, crews will remain on scene doing additional work in the area. This photo shows the conditions our crews worked through today to make repairs.
