Reduced energy consumption through improved energy management and efficiency is a prominent benefit of completing an on-site energy audit, however, it is not the only one. Energy audits are beneficial for developing an understanding of energy use; identifying consumption, financial spend and environmental impacts. These can be of significant value to a business, with possible energy cost savings for an average company reported at 20%. This article will discuss what an energy audit is, what they include, typical recommendations, how they can support in reaching net zero and what to do to implement recommendations after an audit. https://lnkd.in/eVcDcJKs #NUSconsulting #NUSConsultingGroup #decarbonisation #sustainability #SustainabilityConsulting #SustainabilityServices #EnergyServices #GHG #CarbonReduction #NetZero #EnergyAudit #EnergyEfficiency #OnSiteAudit #ESOS #HeatPumps #Electrification #SolarPV #EV

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is a price on carbon emissions from the production of certain carbon-intensive imports, complementary to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU-ETS). Importers will be required to register for the scheme, report the emissions of their products and purchase certificates which can then be used to pay for the embedded emissions of their imports. Carbon payments already paid outside of the EU will be deducted from the CBAM payment to avoid double payments and ensure equal carbon pricing across all equivalent products. Read NUS’ latest blog to see what this means or your company. https://lnkd.in/gsdgbY55 #CBAM #CarbonBorderAdjustmentMechanism #lifecycleassessment #compliance #ukbusiness #energyefficiency #energysavings #carbonemissions #carbonreduction #decarbonisation #lowcarbon #energymanagement #consulting #nusconsulting #NUSConsultingGroup #EURegulation

Earlier this week the US Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued its monthly Budget review for May 2024. The US government is eight months into the fiscal year at through May its deficit is 1.2 trillion. While revenues for the period expanded 10 percent, expenses have grown faster - meaning the current year's deficit is 38 billion larger than the prior year. Moreover, the CBO is project that the total deficit for 2024 will be larger than 2023, and larger than previously projected, due to administrative actions associated with student loan forgiveness and international assistance. For context, the deficit in 2023 was $1.7 trillion. It is incredible the US is running such incredibly large deficits in years for good economic growth. With an election around the corner, it is hard to imagine the deficit coming down in the foreseeable future. At this rate US debt, which is currently at $34.8 trillion, will be topping $40 trillion. It makes one wonder aloud; can this amount of debt ever really be paid back? The current strength of the USD indicates that global financial institutions and governments still have faith that the debt load is "manageable."

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted approval on Tuesday for the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) to start operations. MVP ships natural gas from the Marcellus Shale in West Virginia to Virginia. The original application for the pipeline was files in 2015 but it was the subject of lengthy regulatory and legal battles. Construction was commenced after Sen. Joe Manchin included its approval in the 2022 debt ceiling agreement (never let it be said Manchin did not bring home the bacon). The pipeline was supposed to start last month but suffered a rupture May first. The owner stated that final preparations are underway to begin commercial operations.
