The desire to create a supportive and empowering environment for military veterans within our workplace is a top priority for us and inspired our Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG). This year, VERG has partnered with Ponies North, pairing rescued mustangs with veterans for therapeutic benefits. One of our very own VERG members, Christina, will embark on a 1,500-mile ride from Arizona to Montana to raise awareness and funds for veteran suicide prevention. Last month, as part of our commitment to sustainability and supporting our local project communities, we donated two benches made from recycled wind turbine blades to Bloomfield and Crofton Community Schools on behalf of the North Fork Wind Farm. These benches not only enhance school environments with renewable, repurposed seating but also allowed us to partner with Northeast Community College to discuss exciting career opportunities with the wind energy instructor present at the ribbon-cutting ceremonies. We're thrilled to celebrate our partnership with Xcel Energy in our upcoming Minnesota solar installations: Fillmore County Solar and Louise Solar. Together, we will provide 80 megawatts of solar energy to power more than 60,000 homes to light a brighter, greener future! #RenewableEnergy #Partnership #SolarPower #XcelEnergy #NationalGridRenewables
At Xcel Energy, we’re harnessing the power of the sun to brighten Minnesota’s renewable energy future. This month, we joined National Grid Renewables to celebrate their upcoming Minnesota solar installations: Fillmore and Louise. Through power purchase agreements, Xcel Energy has secured 80 megawatts of solar energy from these projects, enough to power approximately 60,000 homes. This energy will support our ambitious goal of delivering 100% carbon-free electricity to our customers by 2050, complementing our existing solar, wind and nuclear initiatives. In addition to their environmental impact, these installations are powerful catalysts for economic growth. Over the first 20 years of operation, Fillmore and Louise will contribute more than $30 million in direct economic impact, including $4 million in new tax revenue and the creation of 300 local construction jobs. I am incredibly proud of Xcel Energy’s role in this transformative journey toward a sustainable future. Read more in our Between the Lines blog: https://lnkd.in/gaKXZQ_5
