Our old digs. 📍 As we celebrate our 75th anniversary, we have to share one of our favorite stories! In 1973, we bought the brewery at 501 N Douglas that is still the home to our manufacturing enterprise today. The building was purchased from Lone Star Brewing company and was our only facility until the early 2000's. It's been a great home to our operations, and while the building has changed in many ways, there are still some giveaways that it's an old brewery... Have you visited the old taproom? 😉

Speaking of summer break (are you detecting a theme here lately?), our Inclusion & Diversity Consortium is taking a short sabbatical in July. Mark your calendars now for our August 28 meeting, which will feature an exceptional panel discussion titled "Accessibility Matters." We'll hear from experts including Brian Smith, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City; Hannah Kinsey, NewView Oklahoma; and moderator Jon Cunningham, executive director, Camp Twin Cedars, plus others. See you in August!

We’re grateful for every opportunity to get our Keys to Work participants in front of real-world resources like Goodwill Central Oklahoma. It helps open their eyes to the opportunities that are available to them as they enter the workforce!
Today we were fortunate to host a group of NewView Oklahoma clients, staff members and guides at Goodwill HQ for our Youth Action Program (YAP)! Through YAP, youth and high school groups can spend a Friday morning with us to explore Goodwill Central Oklahoma's mission while peeking behind the scenes of our warehouse and administrative operations. Participants also get to learn about different career paths available at and outside of Goodwill, and take part in job shadowing and a career Q&A panel. P.S.: We will be at NewView's Networking Showcase on July 19 from 9-1 P.M. - Stop by the Goodwill booth to learn more about our free services and opportunities for jobseekers! #OKCNonprofits #HelpingOklahomans

Happy 4th of July! NewView's Low Vision Clinics and manufacturing facility will be closed today, July 4th, in observance of the holiday. Remember - your eyes are delicate, and you only have two! If you are enjoying fireworks this weekend, please be careful. Protect your eyes with safety glasses, keep a safe distance, and NEVER point or throw fireworks. If your eye is injured, do not wait to be seen! Our clinics will be open on Friday, but call 911 in the event of an emergency!

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth and we're here to say, disability isn't a bad word! We hope all of our friends who have disabilities are proud of their identity and the hard work they put into the world. We are lucky enough to know some of the very best Oklahomans with disabilities! And remember, not every disability is visible. 😊

Speaking of NewView's rich history, here is a shot of Helen Keller visiting the Oklahoma League for the Blind... Join us in celebrating National DeafBlind Awareness Week! #DeafBlindAwareness Week always falls on the last week of June, which coincides with Helen Keller's birthday. In honor of Keller, and in recognition of the achievements made by those living with both vision and hearing loss, join us in celebrating our friends who are part of the DeafBlind community, and all of the obstacles they have overcome.
