We had to move our annual meeting inside because of the rain. You’ll find us at Saint Mary’s Romanian Orthodox Cathedral on Warren Road in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood. Need directions? Check it out on google here: https://lnkd.in/e3NN7eSj

Earlier today, CNP launched its Middle Neighborhoods Initiative with its partners in government, in community development, and in philanthropy. We are so excited about this work and the impact it will have for communities like Collinwood, Lee Harvard, Old Brooklyn, and West Park. “Cleveland neighborhoods represent the full spectrum of development – from severely disinvested and in need of large- scale intervention on one hand, to market-driven and healthy on the other hand, where homes are in demand, where banks willingly lend, and where small businesses thrive on strong main streets,” explained Tania Menesse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, during the press event to launch this work. “In between those two polar opposites are Cleveland’s middle neighborhoods. They are strong neighborhoods by all counts, with longtime residents and homeowners who are deeply invested in their communities, and with main streets that have opportunities for small businesses and entrepreneurs. But these neighborhoods are also stagnant and in slow decline. Their condition is tenuous and uncomfortable. That is why we need to invest in them now, so that we don’t have to make bigger investments in the future.” Over the last year, Cleveland Neighborhood Progress worked with its partners at the State of Ohio, at the City of Cleveland, and in philanthropy to assemble nearly $11 million for an investment strategy that combines work on commercial corridors, or “main streets,” and strategic investments in housing acquisition and rehabilitation on “side streets.” Based on the City of Cleveland’s Neighborhood Typology Index, CNP will be focusing its investments in Cleveland’s middle neighborhoods, including Collinwood, Lee-Harvard, Old Brooklyn, and West Park.
