Community solar farms can grow more than electricity. #Agrivoltaics places crops or livestock underneath and between rows of solar panels. We are proud to say that we have been testing agrivoltaics with #sheep grazing at a few of our Colorado #solar farms and it's been going great! This process allows for efficient land use, as the land supports both energy production and crop cultivation or livestock grazing simultaneously. Sheep grazing is an effective and #eco-friendly way to manage vegetation around solar panels. The sheep keep the grass trimmed, reducing the need for mechanical mowing and chemical herbicides, which helps maintain the efficiency of the solar panels. Additionally, the shade provided by the panels can create a cooler microclimate that can benefit certain crops and improve soil moisture retention. Photo credit: Brown Land & Livestock, LLC

We had a blast at Solar Energy Industries Association's 50th Anniversary Gala last week in Washington DC. It's always a pleasure to get together with other #cleanenergy leaders and it’s an honor for Nautilus Solar Energy to be a part of the industry’s past 50 years of accomplishments. A toast to what will surely be a brighter and cleaner future for everyone! 🥂   We also send our warmest congratulations to Abby Hopper on her leadership of SEIA and to the entire SEIA staff for organizing such a wonderful celebration! We thank them for the unwavering support they are providing to all of us in the #renewable industry.

Say hello to Michelle Dutcher, CPA, one of our Senior #Accounting Managers. We're highlighting Michelle this month as part of our #employee spotlight series. Michelle has been with Nautilus Solar for 3 years and is passionate about working in the #solar industry. She supports the financial accounting, reporting, and external audits for our ever-growing number of community solar projects. She also assists with standardizing accounting policies and implements process improvements to maximize efficiency whenever possible. Most recently, she spearheaded the implementation of a new lease management software solution to streamline our lease accounting and compliance requirements. Michelle holds a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) from Rutgers University.   In her free time, Michelle enjoys traveling with her husband, spending quality time with family and friends, and soaking up the sun. Here are some fun facts about Michelle:   -She met her husband while working in public accounting. -Her family has a unique tradition and celebrates Soup Day every year. The celebration includes homemade chicken noodle soup, beer tasting, a theme, favors, a Soup Day tree, and more! -She loves a good laugh so she’s a big fan of going to stand-up comedy shows. She loves Curb Your Enthusiasm. -Her last meal would be thin crust pizza, a bottle of red wine, and mint chocolate chip ice cream.

Yesterday our Community Solar Business Development Analyst, Jenny Ye, had the opportunity to give out our Nautilus Solar #Scholarship to an extremely deserving graduating high school senior at Dover High School in Dover Plains, NY. Congratulations to the recipient, Gianna Chiappini. She wrote a creative and compelling essay detailing how she would use #solarenergy to make the world a better place. We're wishing her the best of luck in her studies at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and are thrilled to be supporting her continued #STEM education.

#Colorado Governor Jared Polis recently signed Senate Bill 24-207 into law, marking a significant milestone in the state’s #communitysolar program. This legislation establishes new focus and vigor for the current program, by increasing energy equity and continuing Colorado’s work to decarbonize the grid. Nautilus currently owns and manages 17 community solar farms in Colorado, representing more than 30 MW. These provide clean renewable power to nearly 5,000 Coloradans, while delivering local tax revenue, job opportunities, and #energy savings. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eagzbisA
