We're delighted to announce the permanent preservation of the Painter farmstead in Warwick Township, Chester County. The 14-acre property is now protected by a conservation easement that will ensure its meadows and woodlands will remain forever. “The Painter property is quintessential Chester County: stone farm buildings surrounded by picture-perfect pastures, meadows, and forest,” said Jack Stefferud, senior director of land protection for Natural Lands. “But its real beauty lies in the environmental services this land provides. It absorbs and filters rainwater, stores carbon, helps clean our air, and provides habitat and food for insects, birds, and other wildlife.” Read more: https://bit.ly/3W783wU

🎻For the third year in a row, the Philadelphia International Music Camp & Festival turns the notion of performing in a small room on its head. Students of all ages will perform at unique sites in and around the greater Philadelphia region, including our very own Hildacy Preserve. The birds and bullfrogs will lend their notes to the musical performance, on July 23. Tickets: https://lnkd.in/eD-WjKbF

We hope there's a rainbow at the end of this one. After watching the weather for the past 10 days, we finally made the difficult decision to cancel FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, due to a forecast for rain all day and evening. Though we are saddened by this, we are happy for the birds, bees, meadows, and trees that desperately need the rain. Please check your email if you have purchased tickets. We hope you will join us in September for Beats & Brews at Binky Lee Preserve! Tickets: natlands.org/beatsandbrews Photo: Lisa Hancock

Last year's SPLISH SPLASH💦 event in Stroud Preserve's Brandywine Creek led us to find a hellgrammite (aka the 'King Kong' of water insects), larva of the dobsonfly! 📖Read on about this macroinvertebrate discovery which is a sign of clean water below. Then, don't miss the opportunity to join us this year in Hildacy Preserve's Crum Creek - we can't wait to see what you discover. 🔍 Hellgrammites at Stroud: https://lnkd.in/eM9tpFYJ Sign up for this year's SPLISH SPLASH💦 on August 17: https://lnkd.in/eKBDePQw photo: Martha Moore
