NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT)'s team celebrated America's #IndependenceDay, honouring the shared values of democracy and freedom between the United States and its NATO Allies. During the ceremony, NATO Allied Commander Transformation General Philippe Lavigne stated: "In these challenging times, with the world, once again, turning upside down, the #US & its 31 Allies are needed more than ever". #WeAreNATO

#NATO is taking active steps to safeguard its Allies' security & counter rising cognitive threats, as adversaries are spreading #disinformation & mistrust to undermine public trust in #NATO & the rules-based international order. A new kind of threat the world is facing daily is a war fought not with bombs and missiles, but with lies and manipulation. Adversaries are attempting to undermine public trust in #NATO by spreading disinformation and confrontational rhetoric online. This strategy forms part of our adversaries approach to wage cognitive warfare on the Alliance, aiming to sow discord and weaken our ability to protect ourselves effectively. To counter this threat, NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) is developing the #CognitiveWarfare Concept. Finland's membership in NATO is contributing to both country's safety & #NATO's strength. A testament to this is increased role within #CWIX, #NATO's flagship interoperability exercise. For the second year in a row, Finland has brought their developmental Extended Reality capability to experiment in the Modelling & Simulation Focus Area alongside testing partners such as #Italy, #Norway, #Romania, and the #US. Captain Henri Palin, a System engineer with the Finnish Army Pori Brigade, says that this CWIX represents a deepening of both relationships and testing programs. "After joining NATO, we have been very busy with building and improving our systems. Now it was the right time to come to CWIX to confirm that our systems are compatible. I hope that we manage to test our Command & Control system for de-risk purposes so we can make sure that we can function interoperable if needed," he says. Jay Paxton, Chief Public Affairs Officer at NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT), emphasized during recent events with World Affairs Council of St. Louis & International Relations Council, “The strength of NATO is that despite our differences, we have always been able to unite around our core task: to defend each other and keep our people safe. The United States and Europe must stand strong and united in NATO.” While speaking about recent geopolitical events and pressure points for NATO, Mr. Paxton stressed that the United States and NATO are defining a world where autocrats are either able to steal territory they covet or not. “We didn’t ask for the fight. We’re not fighting the fight. But the fight is in Ukraine," said Mr. Paxton. Ambassadors and senior military leaders from numerous United States Combatant Commands, Services, The Joint Staff and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) took part in the Allied Warfighter Talks 2024. In recognition of the complex and multifaceted security environment, the theme for this year’s Allied Warfighter Talks, “Seizing advantage today and tomorrow: operationalizing a global shape and contest strategy,” challenged NATO and U.S. commanders to confront critical issues to bolster deterrence and collective defence. Uniting forces and bridging gaps, @NATO's premier #interoperability exercise #CWIX is where seamless collaboration becomes reality. Engineers & operators from across the Alliance tested more than 480 capabilities, ranging in maturity from the developmental stage, such as innovative Extended Reality goggles to battle-tested, like geospatial situational awareness tools.
