Improving learning & development for young children worldwide by producing knowledge that transforms policy & practice.
About us
The National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) improves the learning and development of young children by collaborating with a network of local, state, national, and international early education practitioners to conduct, create and disseminate rigorous research, evaluation, and policy analysis that transforms early childhood policy and practice. We offer independent, research-based analysis and technical assistance that provides the following: ‣ A rendering of early education excellence in terms policymakers can use and the public can understand. ‣ Monitoring and evaluation of national and state progress toward early educational excellence. ‣ Development and analysis of model legislation, standards, regulations, and other policies required to improve quality and increase access to good preschool programs. ‣ Compares the costs, outcomes, and economic benefits of alternative policies We're transforming entire early education ecosystems by producing and using research that is child-centered, unbiased, and nonpartisan to influence policymaking to address the needs of young children and their families in their unique circumstances so as to improve their lives in these early years and to build the foundations for later success in school and life beyond school.

We are excited to implement CASEBA and CASELA assessments to evaluate and enhance language and literacy supports for preschool children throughout New Jersey. 📚🔍 Thanks to Dr. Alexandra Figueras-Daniel's efforts in collecting and sharing this vital data, school districts are now equipped to collaborate with DOE and NIEER staff. Together, they are developing actionable plans to boost classroom quality, ensuring that our youngest learners receive the strongest start to their educational journey. 🌟 #PreschoolEducation #LanguageAcquisition #BilingualSupport #NewJerseyDOE #EducationalInnovation #QualityImprovement

When states incorporate family child care (FCC) into their state-funded pre-K programs, they must address several key policies with potential cost implications. These policies cover how providers are recruited, contracted, and reimbursed. Factors include direct or indirect participation through networks, intermediary entities, and the frequency and timing of payments. These considerations are crucial for ensuring the successful integration of FCCs and maintaining quality early childhood education. https://lnkd.in/eyX2nxKG GG Weisenfeld Karin Garver Erin Harmeyer Funded by: @HomeGrown #FCC #EarlyChildhoodEducation #QualityPrograms

“The fewer resources (children) have at home, the more they benefit from high-quality environments” like Head Start, Barnett says. Without it, he said, they show up in kindergarten further behind their classmates from middle- and upper-income households." Steve Barnett The Associated Press https://lnkd.in/eznY5wQX
