Managing Subcontractors Most construction projects today require partnerships with subcontractors to get the job done. These partnerships are crucial to ensure that the project is completed successfully. Setting safety expectations at the onset of a project can go a long way toward maintaining a safe job site. When we set high expectations, follow through with inspections, and hold individual subcontractors accountable we can create an environment where safety is at the front of mind versus an afterthought. Don’t wait for accidents to happen to address safety issues on the job site, be proactive in your approach and expect safety excellence from the onset. #ConstructionSafetyWeek2024

Creating the Foundation Construction sites include people of all experience levels and varying tolerance for risk, many of whom are also working together for the first time. Safety is the one thing that connects us all because, despite the other differences and competing priorities, we all want it and need each other to obtain it. Do you want to work in an environment where someone might not warn you of a safety hazard, or wouldn’t bring forward a safety improvement idea that benefits everyone because they think their voice doesn’t matter? Would you continue to speak up if you thought you would be ignored? Suppose anyone regardless of role or experience level cares enough about job safety to speak up. In that case, we all must respect them enough to consistently listen and act to ensure they continue to speak up in the future. #ConstructionSafetyWeek2024
