About us
The Monique Burr Foundation for Children is a nonprofit organization founded in 1997, dedicated to protecting children from all types of maltreatment and exploitation by providing the best prevention education programs, collaborating with partner organizations, and engaging communities in child safety initiatives with community awareness efforts and resources. We provide research-based, comprehensive, developmentally appropriate programs to schools and other youth-serving organizations, to educate and empower students (grades K – 12), parents, teachers and staff, with strategies to better protect children and teens from various types of child victimization. MBF Prevention Education Programs, including MBF Child Safety Matters® for elementary schools and MBF Teen Safety Matters® for middle and high schools, MBF Athlete Safety Matters® for youth athletes, as well as MBF After School Safety Matters®, for after-school programs and youth-serving organizations, are evidence-based and evidence-informed primary prevention programs that educate and empower children and all relevant adults with information and strategies to prevent, recognize and respond appropriately to bullying, cyberbullying, digital dangers, the four types of child abuse (physical, emotional, sexual and neglect), exploitation, and child trafficking. To date, MBF has trained more than 5,000 facilitators who have delivered MBF Programs to more than 5 million students within 35 states, Washington D.C., and 5 countries.

🎉 Time flies when you're busy helping keep kids safe! Congratulations on your two-year anniversary Tanya Ramos- Puig (she/her/ella)!!
July 1st marked my 2nd anniversary @ the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc. It has been an incredible journey! I continue to feel so humbled and honored to serve and to be able to live a life of purpose! We all take jobs and I never take for granted that I get to take on missions! The mission to keep children safe, and save lives through prevention education is certainly a mission near and dear to my heart. Thank you to so many of you that have served as thought partners, colleagues and most importantly friends- folks who have both inspired me while also giving it to me straight. It takes that balance to be able to forge forward and work towards leaving the world better than we found it. So grateful! And a heartfelt thanks to so many of you that have paved the way. Many thanks for so many that have mentored me and have given me opportunities to make a real impact. Leading life with purpose is the best gift of all. Cheers to countless years of impact!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues. Let's break the stigma and open up the conversation about mental health, especially with our youth. Teach them that mental health matters just as much as physical health. By doing this, collectively, we can create a world where mental health is understood, accepted, and prioritized. 💚 #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth #BreakTheStigma #MentalHealthMatters
