This morning, employee volunteers donated 80 backpacks filled with school supplies to students attending the Youth of Tomorrow Summer Enrichment Camp in Gulfport to power the new school year for these students.

Congratulations to all of the Mississippi Power Shine a Light Minority Small Business Grant recipients honored at the Breaking Barriers event this morning. We are proud to support the communities we serve!

Today, we were honored by the Southeastern Electric Exchange with a Top Safety Award for our Generation teams’ performance in 2023. Last summer, while Mississippi experienced record heat, our power plant employees worked hard to ensure that the highest demand for power in more than a decade was met. One year ago, an EF2 tornado devastated the city of Moss Point. Our storm team worked around the clock restoring service. We are proud to continue supporting Moss Point in their rebuilding and recovery efforts.

For National Automotive Service Professionals Day, we want to give you a peek inside our Vehicle Maintenance Centers where our team of only 10 technicians maintain hundreds of fleet vehicles from buckets to boats to cranes, they do it all! Thank you to our entire fleet team and your dedication that keeps our crews able to perform their duties safely.

Renew Our Rivers recently brought the good energy to Meridian and Biloxi. More than 60 Mississippi Power volunteers and their families floated down the Chunky River and navigated the Biloxi Back Bay collecting nearly one ton of trash from our waterways.

We are honored to award scholarships through the Mississippi Power Foundation to 150 local educators to attend this week's Making Connections Conference hosted by SRESA. More than 20 Mississippi Power employee volunteers prepared attendee bags ahead of this year's conference. In 11 years, we've awarded more than 1,000 Barton Award scholarships to teachers focusing on STEM subjects in Mississippi Power’s service territory. We truly appreciate these teachers who power the education community.

Mississippi Power was a proud sponsor of today’s Mississippi Utilities Local and Diverse Outreach Supplier Event where local and diverse businesses had the chance to connect with major utilities.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Day! Eco-Educator Rosalind Cuevas of Delisle Elementary teaches her students about environmental parenting with help from the Mississippi Power Environmental Education Grant. This "real-life, hands-on experience" has fostered a love for the environment with these students and a very beautiful garden. We appreciate all of our teachers especially our Eco-Educators who spark learning about environment through Mississippi Power’s Environmental Education Grant program. #NationalTeacherAppreciationDay

Congratulations to the 2024 UPLIFT Leadership Program graduates! Ten HBCU students from Alcorn State, Jackson State, Mississippi Valley State Universities and Tougaloo College recently completed our UPLIFT Leadership Program. The UPLIFT program is now in its third year of providing students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities in Mississippi an opportunity to develop leadership skills to prepare them for the transition from college to career.
