What an exciting event and a great opportunity to recognize all of the incredible work being done by the business community of Greater Portland!

Our Sun Journal team recently had an inspiring time at the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards! The SJ crew joined friends and fellow business leaders to celebrate the remarkable contributions driving our communities forward. 🏆

🎉 Last week the Maine Trust celebrated the launch of the new Times Record! 🎉 The team has made significant changes to ensure that The Times Record is hyper-focused on the news that matters most to its community. We are excited to continue investing in sustainable and relevant #localnews, and we thank everyone who stopped by to celebrate the legacy and future of The Times Record.

This week the Maine Trust team was joined by University of Southern Maine Promise Scholars Noah and Cayley, along with Director of the Promise Scholarship Program, Daniel Barton. We had a great time showing them what a day at our Portland office looks like and enjoyed sharing the importance of sustaining #localnews!

Our publisher, Lisa DeSisto, met with residents of OceanView at Falmouth yesterday to give an update on the Maine Trust for Local News. She was thrilled to learn that 100 percent of the audience subscribed to The Portland Press Herald. 📰 Lisa and the OceanView residents had a great conversation ranging from our comics selection to the future of print. This audience was highly engaged and featured many fans of The Maine Millennial!

Say hello to our newest Maine Trust team members!    Evan Connolly is joining as the Maine Trust’s new FP&A Analyst, Thomas Crockett as our new Controller, Griffin Hamel as our new Staff Accountant, Alan Caseres as our new Executive Administrator, Mike St. Amand Jr. in Circulation, and Josh Farris as our new Creative Services Designer.    On the production side, Dan Sibley and Sharan Moore have joined the Pressroom, and Nancy Fangundu and Carina Mbele are starting with Distribution. We’re also welcoming a handful of new reporters! The Maine Trust for Local News has won this year's New England First Amendment Coalition's Michael Donoghue Freedom of Information Award for our newsroom's relentless fight for information about the mass shooting in Lewiston last October. We applaud our entire team for their tireless work in pursuit of keeping the public informed.

Making goals and sinking holes! ⛳   The CentralMaine.com sales team celebrates hitting their goals each month with fun excursions. This month was Putt Putt Golf, and they're putt-ing their way to success! 

It was great having Rodney Gibbs, the National Trust for Local News Head of Audience and Product on the ground in Maine this week. Rodney, pictured here with Matt Fulton our Chief Audience Officer, took a crash course in all things Maine Trust, meeting with many folks throughout the organization. We are grateful to have this support from the National Trust leadership team as we work together to chart our path to long-term sustainability by improving our digital product suite, exploring new platforms and technologies, and growing our events business.

Elizabeth Hansen Shapiro of the National Trust for Local News and I were thrilled to announce the members of the Maine Trust for Local News inaugural community board earlier this week. Deepest gratitude to Mark Stodder, Karen Miller Pensiero, Donna Loring, Josephine Katandula, Roger Katz, Samuel Hight, Shanna Cox and Amjambo Africa's Georges Budagu Makoko for joining us on this journey to sustain local news. Thank you for helping us reach this important milestone Ross McDuffie, Amalie Nash, and Will Nelligan. Our appreciation to Jennifer Hutchins for her leadership throughout this process.
