Edwards Lifesciences stock is down more than 26% right now on the heels of a Q2 revenue miss and reduced transcatheter aortic valve replacement sales guidance — even as it also announced $1.2 billion in new acquisitions. I caught up on the analyst reports this morning, and there seems to be an interesting dynamic playing out on the #TAVR miss. At least for now, the success of Edwards' (for now) much smaller transcatheter mitral and tricuspid therapies portfolio appears to be causing hospital workflow issues in the cath lab, cutting into TAVR sales. In an internal email shared with MassDevice, FDA CDRH Director Jeff Shuren announced his plans to retire in the coming days. He has led the FDA division since 2009 and has implemented many new programs that have helped medtech over the years.
