Chief Member Jane Y. is on a mission to make preventative mental health care more accessible for women at every stage of life. As the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Product Officer of LunaJoy Health Yan has spearheaded an AI-driven initiative to revolutionize national preventative mental health care. The program promotes whole-population screening using advanced technology, particularly for pre- and postnatal women. 📢 Exciting New Research Alert 🎉 Recent findings from a meta-review published in Frontiers in Public Health highlight the critical need for effective screening of paternal perinatal mental illness (PPMI). The study underscores that about one in ten fathers experience mental health challenges during the perinatal period. Despite this, the most widely used tool, the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS), often falls short of capturing the unique symptoms men experience. This research points to the importance of developing more tailored screening instruments to ensure fathers receive the support they need during this pivotal time. NUA SURGICAL - An Irish femtech startup that developed the SteriCISION C-section Retractor, which improves access and visibility during caesarean deliveries, enhancing the safety and outcomes of these procedures(HealthcareTech). Oova - In collaboration with Mount Sinai Hospital, Oova provides an at-home hormone test paired with a smartphone app to offer personalized fertility plans, addressing fertility challenges faced by many women(HealthcareTech). These companies are part of a growing femtech sector, projected to reach $50 billion by 2025, dedicated to addressing unmet needs in women's health through technological innovation. A study found 30.8% of women with postpartum depression were identified clinically, 15.8% received treatment, and 3.2% achieved remission. That is the gulf, in 2024, that we have not managed to bridge…You cannot simply hand a sheet to a woman with an EPDS score of 12 who’s depressed and has a newborn and expect her to navigate to care.
