Yesterday was inspiring! 💡 Teams of Loudoun County Public Schools teachers, counselors, social workers, and principals from Newton-Lee and Sugarland Elementary schools came together to kick off their work with First 10. First 10 is a program that will work with the two school staffs throughout the school year to fill opportunity and achievement gaps for their youngest students. They're driven by this fact: The first 10 years of a child’s life are a critical developmental period that impacts all that follows. This partnership is supported by LEF and made possible by generous funding from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation! #lef4lcps #backtoschool #first10 #lcps #onelcps

For these 65 Loudoun County Public Schools students, Summer is for Spanish! Taking part in the very first Language Immersion Camp this month, these rising 1st-graders are part of the inaugural class of students in the Dual Language Immersion programs at Sanders Corner and Potowmack Elementary Schools. The camp is funded by generous LEF supporter Lew Parker, who is passionate about world language fluency and wanted to help launch a camp that ensured students could retain their new language over the summer break. The Health and Medical Careers Camp this summer invited Loudoun County Public Schools 7th- and 8th-grade students to explore the world of healthcare. Over the course of 9 days, the students investigated the wide variety of health and medical careers and heard firsthand accounts from healthcare professionals. Students also tried their hand at administering first aid, suturing, repairing cavities, taping, and bracing as they will be immersed in key elements of the medical field. This program was made possible through generous funding from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation and an Inova Health Equity Grant! #lef4lcps #hamsci #health #healthcare #medical #summerschool Renée Dawson, Ed.S.
