For these 65 Loudoun County Public Schools students, Summer is for Spanish! Taking part in the very first Language Immersion Camp this month, these rising 1st-graders are part of the inaugural class of students in the Dual Language Immersion programs at Sanders Corner and Potowmack Elementary Schools. The camp is funded by generous LEF supporter Lew Parker, who is passionate about world language fluency and wanted to help launch a camp that ensured students could retain their new language over the summer break. Thanks, Lew! #lef4lcps #summercamp #spanishimmersion

The Health and Medical Careers Camp this summer invited Loudoun County Public Schools 7th- and 8th-grade students to explore the world of healthcare. Over the course of 9 days, the students investigated the wide variety of health and medical careers and heard firsthand accounts from healthcare professionals. Students also tried their hand at administering first aid, suturing, repairing cavities, taping, and bracing as they will be immersed in key elements of the medical field. This program was made possible through generous funding from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation and an Inova Health Equity Grant! #lef4lcps #hamsci #health #healthcare #medical #summerschool Renée Dawson, Ed.S. Teens from P.A.S.T.A (Peers and Students Taking Action) exemplified their passion for service and dedication to developing leadership skills when they worked to collect and donate over 660 pounds of non-perishables and $450 to support food security for their peers at Loudoun County Public Schools! Fueled is thrilled to highlight this local student-run nonprofit led by the simple mission of “kids helping kids in the community.” Thank you so much, P.A.S.T.A., for ensuring a plentiful in-school pantry distribution, and stocked to respond to summer support requests! 🙌 This sets us up for success at the start of next school year. Can we come to your next anniversary banquet? We heard something about ‘delicious pasta and a candy bar’ 😉 P.A.S.T.A. - Congratulations on another school year down in the books!
