This year’s class of M.A.S.H. (Multiple Avenues for Successful Healthcare) is off to a fantastic start here at LAMC! We’re thrilled to welcome this group of high school students into our hospital for the week. Activities involve interactive activities and presentations by our staff that will provide these students with true exposure to various healthcare careers. The goal of this annual program is to expose local students to the multiple exciting and rewarding career opportunities available in their hometown hospital. A huge thank you to Trisha Werner, People Service Generalist, for facilitating. #WeAreLAMC #MakingCommunitiesHealthier #FutureHealthcareWorkers

Our facility today hosted an event to announce the important expansion of the Department of Energy Former Worker Medical Screening Program (FWP) for former workers from LANL and Sandia National Laboratories. Through this expansion, former LANL and Sandia Labs employees will receive medical screening exams for the purpose of early cancer detection. We have proudly served Northern New Mexico communities for more than 70 years and firmly believe in our mission of making communities healthier. LAMC CEO Tracie Stratton spoke to the crowd about how we are achieving that goal by helping spread the word about vital programs such as these for those who worked for our country. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States and in New Mexico; however, modern lung cancer screening technology reduces mortality. Among those attending this momentous event were federal officials and representatives, the American Cancer Society, a former DOE worker, and state and local dignitaries. We teamed up with the Summit Garden Club to beautify our front parking lot with a planting event to cap off Hospital Week on May 17th. The club helped identify which plants we should purchase, and then Master Gardeners were on site to help our team members with planting. The result is beautiful! Thank you, Summit Garden Club, for your inspiration, expertise, guidance and teamwork on this project! #WeAreLAMC #MasterGardeners

We are very proud to announce that Jacqui Carroll has been recognized as our facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded. Jacqui and our other facility nominees were recognized at a wonderful celebration at the hospital on April 30th. Jacqui started working at LAMC in November of 2000 as the Quality Assistant. She moved into the HR Department and in 2003 was promoted to Human Resources Director – a title she proudly holds to this day. Both inside and outside the walls of our hospital, Jacqui displays boundless compassion and the ability to make deep-rooted connections. “Jacqui has a sense of compassion and caring that goes beyond the responsibilities of her position,” said Tracie Stratton, CEO of Los Alamos Medical Center. “There are many examples and times when Jacqui has gone above and beyond to care for staff members in times of need. Jacqui’s reputation in the facility is strong. She is known as a resource staff trust and will go to when problems arise.” Also nominated and celebrated at our hospital were Erika Cordova, RT, Pulmonary Clinic; Sara Sena, RN, Inpatient Services Supervisor; and Claudette Cordova, US/RVT Tech, Imaging. Congratulations to Jacqui and all of our nominees! Read more: https://lnkd.in/gRShfhgP #MakingCommunitiesHealthier #WeAreLAMC #MercyAward
