“When I think about benefits cliff policy, I think about multiple layers of policy: understanding data, transparency for benefits recipients, and benefits regulations.” We talked with More Than Profit about why benefits cliffs are so tricky to deal with. https://lnkd.in/dtPE34Ru Thanks to Bryce Butler, Brian Mackay, Access Ventures!

New York deserves to really understand its benefits cliff problem. We're cheering this stellar op-ed from Therese Daly at New York Association for Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP), Crystal Griffith at The Business Council of New York State, Inc., and NYS Senator Roxanne Persaud! Thanks for also leading here Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and we're standing with these smart people listed above to ask Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie and Governor Kathy Hochul to help get this work across the finish line. We've said it before, we'll say it again: we stand in full support of New York Association for Training and Employment Professionals (NYATEP)'s work with these legislators to make a NYS fiscal cliff task force a reality (see more about the legislation here: https://lnkd.in/g6fPtJap). We stand behind their call to Speaker Carl Heastie and Minority Leader Will Barclay to pass this legislation as well.
New York Association of Training and Employment Professionals would like to extend a generous thank you and congratulations to Senator Roxanne Persaud for her leadership regarding the passage of S7830A on the Senate floor today. It is a true testament to the Senate under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Senate Minority Leader Robert Ortt to see this bill pass with such strong bipartisan support. NYATEP is thrilled to be one step closer to the creation of the necessary fiscal cliff task force. NYATEP strongly urges Speaker Carl Heastie and Minority Leader Will Barclay to take up and pass this critical piece of legislation that we can send to Governor Hochul for signage this legislative session. https://lnkd.in/gifk-78a

Thank you JobsFirstNYC, humbled to be in a room with such smart and thoughtful workforce leaders as your Policy Committee advocates for New Yorkers!
This morning we hosted an insightful JobsFirstNYC Policy Committee discussion on a critical issue: the Benefits Cliff! 📚 Thanks to Karen Schoellkopfand Shoshana Marder from the Leap Fund for shedding light on the importance of transparency and the need to combat misinformation and rumors about the Benefits Cliff. Too often, these factors leave workers, service providers, and policymakers in the dark. The Leap Fund's presentation on the vision of "Building a Future Without Benefits Cliffs" hit the nail on the head. Whether it's cliffs or plateaus, there's a policy gap that needs addressing. We must ensure individuals, especially #youngadults, aren't hindered in their professional growth simply because they're unsure how to navigate the complexities of assistance programs. Shout out to the robust discussion that was had by our dynamic committee members. 💼 We'll continue to brainstorm innovative solutions and conversation to mitigate its effects and create pathways to economic stability for all. 🛤️ Together, we can make a difference! 🌍 #PolicyDiscussion #BenefitsCliff #EconomicStability #CommunityEngagement
