On June 1st, OSHA, the LF Driscoll + Benchmark Construction Company Joint Venture, and WellSpan Health signed an OSHA Partnership agreement for the WellSpan York Surgical & Critical Care Tower project. The OSHA Partnership was developed specifically for this project and will last the duration of the project. OSHA Partnerships enhance worker safety by voluntarily collaborating with OSHA to identify jobsite hazards and develop strategies to mitigate them. OSHA Partnerships “are designed to encourage, assist and recognize efforts to eliminate serious hazards, create effective safety and health management systems, measure results and achieve a high degree of worker safety and health.”   The partnership was signed by Kevin T. Chambers (OSHA Area Director, Harrisburg Area), Mike Dikon (Vice President, LF Driscoll), Chris Flynn (Vice President of Healthcare, Benchmark), and Matthew J. Beecy (Vice President, Facility Engineering Services, WellSpan Health). Our project teams in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York held Safety Stand-Downs throughout the month on a variety of topics including mental health, fall protection, hand protection, ergonomics, and extreme heat/signs of dehydration. Our Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia New Patient Tower team was very creative this year and organized a Safety Day Carnival. We are very proud to recognize LF Driscoll Healthcare Superintendent, Jake Strull for this quarter’s Quality Team Member of the Quarter Award. While certainly a whole team effort, at a recent Emergency Department renovation project, Jake has been largely credited as being instrumental in reaching the goal of Zero in Place (ZIP) defects (zero punch list). He achieved this by having daily on-site communications with the subcontractors and designers and identifying issues on a revolving basis, that were resolved and corrected in real time. Jake conducts himself in the highest quality manner in his everyday activities and brings a focus to quality with his everyday dealings with our subcontractors. Congratulations and thank you Jake!
