We are proud to be a member of this creative and forward-thinking design team and for our contributions towards the goal of "no fossil fuels at Fossil Park." #museumdesign #sustainability
Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University has been recognized as a finalist in the Sustainability category of Fast Company's #InnovationbyDesignAwards. The team of Ennead Architects (Design Architect), KSS Architects (Architect of Record), and G&A (Exhibit Design) have developed an innovative and integrated design experience. Inspired by the core themes of preservation, exploration, and education, the Edelman Fossil Park and Museum of Rowan University is a one-of-a-kind active fossil dig site that offers visitors the unique opportunity for hands-on discovery at a remarkable site of scientific wonder. One of the project’s primary goals is to utilize the story of the mass extinction of the dinosaurs to encourage our era’s environmental stewardship through both education and demonstration of high-performance sustainability through the building. The Barbara Walters Campus Center, a dynamic hub of student life and campus community, serves as the living room space for the Sarah Lawrence College campus – offering a variety of flexible spaces for conversation, collaboration, celebration, and breaking bread. Woven into the fabric of the site, its layout preserves the contours of the land, hills, indigenous rock formations, and trees. Paths weave pedestrians through the site and building, creating connection to programs in the center and surrounding buildings. #KSSArchitects #DesigningTodayforTomorrow #HigherEducation #BarbaraWaltersCampusCenter #CampusCenter #BiophilicDesign #SCUP2024 #SCUPAnnualConference Photographed by Magda Biernat Photography

You know those projects that become so near and dear to your heart? At Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) this week, I had the pleasure of presenting the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services alongside Christopher Manente and David C. Schulz, AIA, PP, AUA. I am so inspired by the impact Chris' programs and services are having on the lives of neurodivergent college students and adults; and I am grateful for Dave's leadership to shepard and guide this project from concept to realization. Projects like this remind me why I love being an architect! KSS Architects

We are proud to share that The Hampshire Companies received a 6-0 approval from the Town of Brookhaven to rezone the 105-acre property at Dowling College in Shirley. In addition to donating a portion of the assets, including a new hockey rink, to the town, Hampshire plans to redevelop the campus with nearly 600,000 SF of industrial space. Bohler is working with KSS Architects and the project team on site design and approval. Learn more about this project: //https://lnkd.in/eQwEn9Ns

As the home of Rowan University’s School of Earth & Environment, Discovery Hall extends learning into the landscape – views outward to campus reinforce connection to place, while views inward provide a glimpse of the engaging academic and research environments throughout. Functioning as the front door to the University’s academic core, Discovery Hall features teaching and research laboratories, active learning and lecture classrooms, and student collaboration spaces. #KSSArchitects #DesigingTodayforTomorrow #HigherEducation #Laboratories #RowanU #SCUPAnnualConference #SCUP24 Photographed by Halkin Mason Photography

Moments from last night's Amy Gutmann Hall panel discussion focused on lessons learned from our team's collaborative process designing and building Penn Engineering's first 6-story mass timber Data Science and AI Building. Becker Raab insightfully represented KSS Architects alongside Penn Engineering and team members from Lake|Flato Architects, Buro Happold, DCI Engineers, and Gilbane Building Company. The panel was supported by Nordic Structures and Rothoblaas. Thank you to everyone that attended and joined the discussion. Centralizing Penn’s start-up ecosystem, this vertical community is home to Venture Lab, a partnership by the The Wharton School, Penn Engineering, and the Stuart Weitzman School of Design. The utilitarian framework and infrastructure of Tangen Hall allow for programmatic evolution and flexibility while the design focuses on fluid interaction at various scales, from large-scale collaborations at the ground-floor maker lab to cross-disciplinary team workshops on upper floors. #KSSArchitects #DesigningTodayforTomorrow #HigherEducation #Makerspace #Collabspaces #UPenn #SCUP2024 #SCUPAnnualConference Photographed by Jeffrey Totaro

The Research Collections and Preservation Consortium (ReCAP) Library Archival Facility is a shared, offsite archival storage facility utilized by Columbia University, Princeton University, and the New York Public Library to ensure the preservation of precious materials in a high-density, temperature-controlled environment. KSS developed a new master plan and established a new standard in archival storage, special collections, and library retrieval to meet ReCAP’s longer-term goals and sustainability metrics. #KSSArchitects #HigherEducation #ArchivalStorage #DesigningTodayforTomorrow #SCUP2024 #SCUPAnnualConference Photography by William Taylor
