Junior League of Chicago reposted this
Founder and Co-President of the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition || Student at Walter Payton College Prep
Yesterday, the Chicago Student Refugee Coalition hosted its inaugural Gala to celebrate our first year as an organization. In just a year, we have seen tremendous growth in our impact on the Chicago student community, raising over $30,000 to assist newcomer families and working with over 1,000 students. I have learned so much as the CSRC has developed, and I cannot begin to express my gratitude for all who have helped us become who we are today. First and foremost, I have had the privilege of working with such talented and passionate individuals to make this event happen. Whether it came down to coordinating with venue staff, finding items for the silent auction, contacting sponsors, or designing the overall run of the show, the CSRC team worked wonders to create such a flawless Gala. I am so thankful for their dedication. In addition, our Gala was made possible largely due to our sponsors’ generous contributions. Thank you to Bob Ruf and ChiTech Resources; Cecilia E. Torres, MPPA and the United Nations Association of Chicago, and the wonderful Junior League of Chicago. A huge thank you to Room 1520 for being such excellent hosts, our many donors who continue to put faith in us and our mission, and all who attended the gala. Your support and presence have made this event unforgettable. As our organization grows, we are constantly working to build community partnerships and bring awareness about newcomer students in Chicago. If you would like to stay connected with us about our plans for the future, visit our website @chicagosrc.org and follow us on our Instagram @chicagosrc. We are thrilled to continue bringing about impactful change in the CSRC’s near future!
