And it's never too early or too late to get started if you've been putting culture on the back burner! Hear about the necessity of a strong culture from Pilea Core client BenchSci from CEO and co-founder Liran Belenzon. https://zurl.co/CtGz

Leaders are about leading people and leading vision. So, they must be responsive to what’s happening in the world, the market, the business, and their people. Once they lose that ability, they will no longer be able to lead. #Leadwithpurpose #Leadership #Founders #Leadwithvision

Founders are always under some degree of chronic stress. And under chronic stress, the tendency is to focus on the near term vs. long term to stay busy vs. being strategic. Having spaces or rituals is important to get out of the weeds and into higher-level thinking. Three things to try: -Block time for strategic thinking and do something that puts your brain in a creative mode. It could be going on a walk or playing with hypothetical scenarios to expand your brain's aperture. -Delegate effectively. If you are delegating and building capacity on your team for great leadership, you will avoid getting pulled back into the weeds. -Regularly check in on long-term objectives and align current priorities. Don't let that new crisis derail your big vision. #chronicstress #creativespaces #leadership #founders

Events outside your control will wreck your plans and require flexibility and agility from your team. Culture and governance can help you weather the storm. While most startups don’t focus on these pieces of the organization until much later, smart founders prioritize them early to build and guide teams that stand by the business, make the right decisions, and take swift action in difficult times." Founders may feel like they are always in 'wartime'. So how do you lead a team through constant existential threats while still building a supportive culture that's innovative and effective? Our founder has some tips in her latest article. #leadership #startups #integrativeleadership
Was Ben Horowitz Wrong About Wartime CEOs? I wrote this originally as a draft in 2020 when the pandemic forced many startups into crisis mode and never posted it. Interestingly enough, I think about it quite often, and even now, it feels relevant. So, at long last, here is my take on some key points from Ben Horowitz's now legendary article on what it takes to be a wartime CEO. #IntegrativeLeadership #CEO #Startups
