CVPD recently finalized a three year pay contract, with a total of 16% increase over the next three years! Top step officer pay is now $122,225 for 2024-2025 fiscal year. New officers can expect to reach top step pay within 4 years and lateral officers may be eligible for top step pay based on experience!

Recently, an elderly female with Alzheimer’s wandered away from her home. She had fallen and injured her arm and hand. Juan saw the woman was in distress and stepped in to try to find out where she lived to escort her home, but she was unable to remember her address, so Juan called us and waited with the woman until officers arrived. Because of Juan’s kindness, the woman was able to receive medical attention and was reunited with family. Juan’s compassion inspired officers to give him a $50 Acts of Kindness gift card. Way to go, Juan!

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the loss of Assistant Chief Phil Collum, who passed away over the weekend after his brave battle against a rare form of cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends, including his loving husband, William. Assistant Chief Collum dedicated 29 years of service to this department and his beloved community. He will be remembered not only for all of his accomplishments and charitable works, but also for being an amazing husband, loyal friend, passionate leader, and trusted mentor to many. He was a true hero in every sense and will be greatly missed by his loved ones, his CVPD family, and the community. Details about his memorial arrangements will be shared as they become available, for those who would like to honor and celebrate his life.
