Yesterday morning, the Johnston County Department of Social Services hosted it's 9th Annual Elderly Abuse Walk. The Adult Services Division puts on this great event every year to shed light on the crucial issue of elderly abuse in our community. 💜💜💜 Each year, Johnston County Commissioners proudly issue a proclamation to honor this important cause. Yesterday, participants took part in a campus walk around DSS facilities, gathered together for a group photo, and handed out swag bags while raising awareness and educating the public. Thank you for the incredible turnout and the continued community support! #ElderAbuseAwareness 💜

Hundreds were in attendance as the Johnston County native graciously accepted the award from his peers. --- "I am definitely humbled to receive this award," said Mr. Renfrow. "The team I work with in the Communications Center on a daily basis makes my job very easy. This award is because of their sacrifice and dedication to 911 and is what makes this such a rewarding career." --- Johnston County Manager Rick J. Hester - MPA weighed in on the leadership and experience of the emergency communications director. "Brett is so deserving of this award and is an incredible leader of a totally dedicated team. He has a wealth of knowledge in this arena, which is so important to our community when almost all emergency responses begin with a call to 911 communications." --- The Communications Center Leader of the Year award is presented to a manager or director that goes above and beyond the call of duty to encourage, motivate, support and mentor their employees. --- Johnston County Board of Commissioners' Chairman R. S. (Butch) Lawter, Jr. joined in on commending Mr. Renfrow for his achievement. "We are fortunate to have such great leadership in a critical role in public safety," said Mr. Lawter. "This honor is a reflection of Brett's dedication to our community and the great staff in emergency communications." --- Mr. Renfrow acknowledged how crucial his 911 team is to the overall success of the organization. "I am blessed beyond measure to work alongside these incredible individuals and have been lucky to lead such a great group of people that care about their community. Of course I am also thankful for the support of my family, friends, and our County leadership," stated Mr. Renfrow.
