On this International Youth Day, we celebrate the transformative power of architecture in inspiring and empowering the leaders of tomorrow. Thoughtfully designed spaces have the remarkable ability to catalyze creativity, foster collaboration, and instill a profound sense of belonging, encouraging young people to reach their full potential. We have seen this impact firsthand through our own projects, including the recently completed CircEsteem, Inc. This organization’s vision of using circus arts to cultivate the personal and social development of youth, deserved an architectural response that supports their mission, and embodies their values. We designed a space that nurtures and uplifts its young users, providing an environment where they can be challenged, thrive, and access essential resources. It is our privilege to contribute to such meaningful initiatives through architecture. Today and every day, we reaffirm our commitment to creating spaces that empower and inspire future generations. #Architecture #Design #LatinxArchitect #InternationalYouthDay

In 2016, Juan Gabriel Moreno founded the Nohra De Francisco Memorial Travel Scholarship in honor of his mother, a courageous Colombian woman who migrated from her home country seeking a brighter future for her family. This scholarship provides Latino students attending Northeastern Illinois University El Centro with the opportunity to travel and experience new places, broadening their horizons and enriching their lives. This year, we welcomed two scholarship recipients to our Chicago office, where they shared how their travels have profoundly impacted their lives. José Muñoz Jr., a Mexican immigrant and pre-med student, spoke about his visit to Zacatecas, the homeland of his father, where he reconnected with his roots. Simon Avila, a Colombian immigrant and pre-law junior studying Justice Studies, shared his inspiring trip to Los Angeles, a city vibrant with diverse cultures and endless professional possibilities. We would like to express our continued gratitude for the support from The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation. In 2016, Mr. Richard H. Driehaus' support helped to further the impact of this scholarship, which continues to have tangible results and influence years later. We were delighted to share this special moment not only with these incredible students but also with Juan's family members, including Nohra's niece, Claudia Sierra de Francisco, and her daughter, Gabriela, who visited from Colombia. Jose and Simon, as you continue to pursue your dreams, remember the importance of giving back to the next generations of the Latino community. Your journey and dedication are part of a lasting legacy that inspires us all. We are honored for the legacy of empowerment this scholarship will continue to leave behind. JGMA is beyond excited to share that we are the champions of this year's North Ave Coed Chicago Architecture Beach Volleyball! One of our favorite summer traditions is joining this beach volleyball league organized by the Chicago Sport and Social Club. After six weeks of fun, teamwork, and dedication, we are happy to see our hard work pay off. For us, being part of this league is not about winning, but coming together as a community outside the office. The JGMA family is both proud and looking forward to our next sport adventure! #Architecture #Design #LatinxArchitect #Chicago

Recently, JGMA organized a site visit for our interns at our Humboldt Park Health Wellness Center project. This visit was a unique opportunity for them to witness firsthand how conceptual design evolves to physical construction. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the architectural process, illustrating how initial ideas are translated into built environments. We are really excited about the progress of the Wellness Center as it advances through its construction phase. Equally important, we are committed to fostering these hands-on learning experiences for our interns, which are crucial for their professional growth and future careers in architecture. #Architecture #Design #LatinxArchitect #Chicago

Today's JGMA project from the archive is Lakeside Driehaus Car Museum (2014)! The Lakeside Driehaus Car Museum was conceived as a museum showplace for a private collection of vintage automobiles. The building draws inspiration from the flowing fender lines, the aggressively curving scoop, the rocketing lines of tail fins, all brightworked and illuminated. A design as aggressive as the American muscle it displays. #Architecture #Design #LatinxArchitect #Chicago
