Koichiro Tsujikawa is an innovative filmmaker from Fukuoka, Japan. He first began his career as an art director designing book covers and CD jackets before eventually transitioning to music video production. He now works on commercials, short films, music videos, installations, and other various forms of media in Japan and across the globe. Tsujikawa often depicts delusions or hallucinations in his work to give them a childlike playfulness. Despite being from Fukuoka, Tsujikawa was assigned the Hyogo prefecture for our new exhibition, DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN | Bridging Design and Life. Tsujikawa visited the Hyogo prefecture and made his own creation inspired by Hyogo, which also combines his preference for bringing out childlike imagery in his artwork. See how Tsujikawa depicts the Hyogo prefecture with his playful artistic vision in our new exhibition, DESIGN MUSEUM JAPAN, open now at Japan House LA! #JHLA #DesignMuseumJapan #Japan #KoichiroTsujikawa #HyogoPrefecture #Hyogo #JapaneseArt #FilmMaker #FilmDirector #JapaneseDirectors #JapaneseMedia #JapanHouseLA #NewExhibition #SpringExhibition #JapaneseCulture #ArtGallery #ArtExhibition #JapaneseArtists #LAArtScene #ThingsToDoinLA #OvationHollywood #JHLosAngeles

  • Hello JASSC Members and Supporters, I hope this message finds you and your family well. I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Sachiko Usui and I am your new Programs Director. Since joining the Society in October, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some of you. If I hadn’t made your acquaintance yet, I look forward to doing so in the new year.  I am very excited to join such a prominent organization with a mission that resonates with my own. Having grown up in Japan, Europe, and the United States, my personal purpose in life has always been to promote friendship between people of different countries, so it is my honor to work with you to further build the Japan-America relationship. As your Programs Director, I plan to create more opportunities for all of us to engage in JASSC’s mission-driven activities. Leveraging my Board level strategy creation, brand development, marketing and communications experience working at global companies like Toyota, MUFG Union Bank and for local LA-based Latina- and Black-led nonprofit organizations, I will help boost our organization’s activities and visibility. In tandem with the JASSC Executive Director, I will work closely with our JASSC Board & Committees, sister JAS organizations, and key external partners to enhance our signature programs, strengthen partnership activities and create more communications around them to further engage you while attracting new members. I look forward to our collaboration and strengthening the Japan-America relationship!
