This week, representatives from the IFRS Foundation and its International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) attended the Rwanda Regulatory Roundtable, hosted by National Bank of Rwanda (NBR), ICPAR RWANDA and Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, and supported by GIZ Rwanda. The Roundtable provided a platform for different regulators to commence deliberations on the introduction of sustainability-related disclosures within the Rwanda financial disclosure landscape. ISSB Member Ndidi, Dr Nnoli-Edozien gave the opening remarks at the event, discussing the benefits of the ISSB Standards as a global baseline to facilitate transparency and comparability of sustainability-related disclosures for useful decision making by investors and other providers of capital. IFRS Foundation staff Mosireletsi M Mogotlhwane FCA, MSc, CAMS and Jonathan Bravo provided an overview of the Inaugural Jurisdictional Guide for adoption or other use of #ISSB Standards and the Regulatory Implementation Programme which are intended to support jurisdictions towards the adoption or other use of the ISSB Standards taking into account jurisdictional considerations. Staff also presented on key concepts in IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, such as proportionality and the phasing-in approach of the Standards. Thanks to all the organisers and to the delegates for a great discussion!
