On this #ThankfulThursday it’s hard for us to put into words our gratitude to this community. Almost 200 donors provided over $20,000 to meet the needs of our clients, countless community members and groups have donated their time by providing meals to our clients. Our partners at Servpro have helped begin the clean up process a the shelter to ensure that when the time comes our clients have a safe place to stay. Our neighbors have come together in such an incredible way that we know we will be able to continue to meet the needs of our neighbors. Thank you to everyone who has provided their support and helped spread the word. We work as a community for the betterment of all our neighbors and we truly could not have done this without each and every one of you. Thank you all!

Join us in congratulating our Director of Essential Needs Supriya Mordecai, who was honored as the Second Chance Champion at the Work Source Montgomery Impact Awards Program. Supriya was recognized for her dedication to and passion for providing employment opportunities for those who are justice-involved. For those of you who don’t know, IW and WSM are in partnership to provide placement opportunities for justice involved citizens. As a result of her efforts, several people have been placed at IWENC and three have been hired as employees. Congratulations Supriya, we are so proud of you! WorkSource Montgomery

We are absolutely overwhelmed with the incredible support we have received from our neighbors in the wake of the fire at our Women's Center at Crabbs Branch. Thankfully, all clients have been safely relocated to a new facility. However, we need your help. We are in need of hot and prepared meals for our 35 clients for every meal of the day. We have already received so many amazing meal donations, but we need help especially covering the breakfast and lunch mealtimes. If you are interested in providing a meal please connect with Rev. Roslyn Roberts, the IW Director of Faith and Community Partnerships at (301)762-8682 x352. You can also provide donations through Amazon following the link here: https://lnkd.in/e4KyiBny Thank you!

Midday yesterday, the IW Women’s Center at Crabbs Branch an electrical fire broke out in the kitchen ceiling causing significant damage to the kitchen and bathroom areas. The good news - everyone is safe and there have been no injuries. The not so good news – the damage was extensive and 34 residents had to be temporarily relocated. We are looking to our neighbors to help support our clients and staff while they are relocated. You can find out how you can help by visiting our website or by clicking here: https://lnkd.in/eExm4DBw A special thank you to the overwhelming support we already received, we are especially grateful.

Last week our amazing Vocational Services team collaborated with the City of Gaithersburg, CareerCatchers, Inc., Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington, and The Outcomes Service to host a job fair! This amazing event allowed community members to connect with employment opportunities and learn about supportive programs to assist in their careers. Thank you to everyone who participated and supported this event! #IWVSP #HireMoCo #mocoemployers Photo credit: @Luc Films
