The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services July 2 announced that Maryland, Vermont and Connecticut will be the first participants in the States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development (AHEAD) Model. Hawaii will also participate, pending satisfaction of certain requirements.
CMS is pleased to announce that the States Advancing All-Payer Health Equity Approaches and Development (AHEAD) Model has announced the first round of state participants: Connecticut, Maryland, and Vermont. Hawaii will also participate, upon satisfaction of certain requirements. CMS and participating states will operate the AHEAD Model in partnership to curb health care cost growth; improve population health; and advance health equity by reducing disparities in health outcomes. CMS will issue Cooperative Agreements to up to eight states, each of which will have the opportunity to receive up to $12 million from CMS during the first five and a half to six years of the model to support implementation.
