In June, Gov. Eric Holcomb hosted the Hoosier Huddle at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Huddle gathered several agencies and leaders in one place to collaborate and learn from each other ways to strengthen Hoosier communities across Indiana. We're all working to leave our communities better than they are now. This was a great way to learn what has worked and can be translated to other regions and cities. IEDC's Chief of Staff Vincent Ash Jr, MUP and SVP and Special Counsel to the Secretary of Commerce Mark Wasky participated in a panel discussion on READI. They shared ways that READI is improving quality of life throughout Indiana. The more we all collaborate, the faster we move forward! With the expansion of Indiana’s Venture Capital Investment (VCI) tax credit program, now venture capital funds – in addition to entrepreneurs and startups – can leverage VCI tax credits to help raise capital. Indiana recently approved its first investment fund, paragraph in Bloomington, for the program. Now, Paragraph’s investors can earn tax credits on capital invested in the company’s fund, which Paragraph then uses to help bring new companies to life and turn ideas into high growth businesses. ‘We are honored to be the first qualified investment fund. We've been managing startup investment funds and startup studios for almost two decades, and the state of Indiana has consistently made this a better place to do our kind of work. We see this as yet another signal that Indiana is committed to growing entrepreneurship and accelerating the economy,’ said Brad Wisler, partner at Paragraph. Paragraph is a venture studio that builds and backs scalable software companies, working alongside founders to write code, create brands and drive growth. The company’s utilization of the VCI program – and the expansion of the VCI program to include investment funds – will help bring even more capital to Indiana’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, making sure innovators can start stronger and grow faster.
