Your Financial Pathfinders: Tell us your plan, we'll be your guiding light.
About us
Founded in 1934, our eight charter members were production line workers at the East Moline Works Plant. Open only three times a day during shift change, employees at the original office in the middle of the plant had to manage over the noise of the steel-wheeled trailers moving over the creosote floors. Fast forward 82 years, IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union (IHMVCU) has grown to be the largest credit union in the Quad City area. We’re more than 110,000 members strong and hold more than $1 billion in assets. With 17 branches in eastern Iowa and western Illinois, and a progressive and growing online branch, IHMVCU’s path-finding employees provide convenient financial solutions catered to each member-owner’s journey to financial success. Federally Insured by NCUA | Equal Housing Opportunity | NMLS# 463074

Earlier this week, our dear friend and longtime IH team member, Larry Makoben was posthumously named the Quad Cities Chamber Volunteer of the Year. Larry, who passed away in January, was a legend in the Quad Cities financial services industry. Not only was he known for his work, but also his love for our community. We’ll forever be grateful for his commitment to making our community a better place. He’s greatly missed by #TeamIH and the Quad Cities community.

We're all looking for more ways to save cash. Let's look at a few tips to save at the pump. 1️⃣ Maintenance: Regular maintenance checks, including replacing a dirty engine air filter, can improve fuel economy by up to 20% and keep your car running efficiently. 2️⃣ Minimize AC: Air conditioning drops fuel efficiency about 5%. Only use it when on the highway and roll down the windows for city driving at lower speeds. 3️⃣ Travel light: An extra 100 pounds can reduce fuel economy up to 1%, especially with smaller vehicles. 4️⃣ Obey speed limits: The higher the speed, the more fuel your car uses. Lowering speed by 5 to 10 mph can improve your fuel economy up to 14%. 5️⃣ Fast pass (for tolls): An electronic transponder on toll roads saves fuel by minimizing tollbooth slowdowns and stops. 6️⃣ Fuel economy: If you notice your car needs a refill sooner than expected, it may need serviced. 7️⃣ Drive smoothly: Avoid rapid acceleration and hard braking, which use up to 30% more fuel on the highway and up to 40% in the city. 8️⃣ Use cruise control: Maintaining a steady speed saves gas. But be careful using cruise control on slippery roads; it reduces vehicle control. 9️⃣ Check tires: The rolling resistance of underinflated tires reduces fuel economy and can cause overheating and a blow out. 🔟 Avoid rush hour: If your employer supports "flex time" option to commute and run errands during off-peak traffic times.
