Last time we hosted an IEEE (I Triple E) Happy Hour Bridging the Digital Divide, there was tremendous support from our workmates and network, the outcomes led to two additional initiatives: Diversity-Inclusion-Equity Panel, and IEEE subcommittee is helping to build a STEM Education Program for underserved community in Hayward, CA. This time is no different, as we assist students and interns transition to professionals. I am extending an invite to my network, join us on Thursday, 7/18, 5:30-8ish PM in Mountain View. This is my first post on Linkedin and I'm very excited to write it. I am ending a two-semester position on the publicity committee for the IEEE BYU-Idaho student branch. It has been wonderful serving in this role. I attended two conferences where I met a lot of industry professionals. The most recent was called Rising Stars in Las Vegas, NV (https://lnkd.in/e7sMwpMW). There I met many great people including Chad Kidder and I wanted to highlight his recent visit to BYU-I. Our campus was delighted to welcome Chad and Melissa Kidder for an event on March 28th, 2024. The event was funded by IEEE Young Professionals and marketed toward upper division students that are nearing graduation, as well as their spouses. The emerging professionals at our student branch were taught about early career navigation, ongoing development, time management, maintaining relationships, and continued success in industry. We had 79 in attendance, 18 of which were IEEE members. Chad is Director of Engineering at Marshall Radio Telemetry in North Salt Lake. He is the past IEEE Northeast Area chair and current IEEE USA Conference Committee Chair. He and his wife came to the BYU Idaho campus from Utah to give a presentation entitled, “Engineering Your Career.” Our campus catering department provided full catering that included salad, chicken alfredo, breadsticks, and brownies/cookies for dessert. A big thanks to Chad and Melissa Kidder for taking their time to travel to Idaho to give this great presentation. The leadership team: Ian Searle, Randy Peirce, Samuel Adams, Max Andersen, Ethan Carlson, Nathan Wight, Justin Ackerman. Faculty advisor: Jason Allred Also, a huge shout out to IEEE Young Professionals.

What an incredible day of strikes, spares, and networking at our IEEE Young Professionals bowling event yesterday! 🎳 I'm thrilled to report that it was a resounding success, with 100% positive feedback from our participants. The enthusiasm was so high that networking continued even after our reservation ended. (We almost got kicked out – talk about striking up conversations!) 😄 It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and meet new ones. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and made this event a success.
