Our Benefactor S. Dale High was recently recognized by the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County at their Annual C. Emlen Urban Awards Dinner. Dale was presented with the 2024 Leadership Award, which is given to an individual or group who recognizes the value of saving historical artifacts and takes the initiative to ensure their preservation. With his longstanding commitment to Lancaster and his present positions as Chair Emeritus of High companies and Chair of High Foundation, Dale was selected for his leadership skills, his many restoration and preservation efforts in Lancaster County, and his overall goodwill in the community. Through education, exhibitions, and community engagement, Ringling College of Art and Design has been a hub for artistic development in Sarasota, Florida since 1931. Ringling educates artists and designers to be culturally aware and technically proficient. Faculty and active professionals cultivate critical thinking and creative expression while the college itself aims to promote diversity, supporting students' aesthetic, intellectual, and professional growth. Jesse Clark, a recent graduate from Ringling’s Photography and Imaging program,, has quickly found success in the professional realm. “Receiving financial aid and grants not only helped me achieve my dream of becoming a photographer but also gave me access to world class education in a creative field in which People of Color have historically been underrepresented in,” Jesse said. “Opportunities like this not only serve to sponsor students like me, but it has provided me the validation that my goals as a Black artist are worth pursuing. Attollo Prep’s mission is to support success-oriented students from diverse backgrounds in their pursuit of academic achievement, self-empowerment, and social engagement. The goal is to see every Attollo Scholar receive a full scholarship to the college of their dreams. Conestoga Valley senior and Attollo participant Yonatanne Desta said, "Attollo provided me with a place in my life where I could academically, mentally, and physically grow as a young adult. This club allowed me to be myself while still maintaining discipline and focusing on my goals.” Yonatanne will be attending John Hopkins on a full-ride scholarship this fall. Each year, High Foundation presents scholarships to students of High coworkers. Meet the 2024 High Foundation scholarship recipients! Chase Orinski is the son of Amy Orinski, Project Coordinator with High Construction Company who joined High in 2020. Chase attended Liberty High School in the Bethlehem Area School District where he served as President of the Future Business Leaders of America Club, an organization he participated in all four years of high school. He was a member of the golf team, serving as its captain his senior year along with participation in DECA Inc. and Science Olympia. His community service includes Greater Lehigh Valley Athletes, Bethlehem Area Public Library, Historic Bethlehem, and Lehigh Valley International Airport as a Junior Navigator. Chase plans to pursue a degree in Sports Management from the University of Iowa. Lincoln Dillman is the son of Brad Dillman, Vice President of Engineering with High Steel Structures LLC who joined High in 2007. Lincoln attended Conestoga Valley High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society as a junior and senior, served as Class Secretary from 10th to 12th grade, served as Commissioner of Line Crew during his junior and senior year, and participated in Students Against Destructive Decisions for all four years, serving as President his senior year. His community service includes Founder and President of Readers Helping Readers, English as a Second Language Tutor, and Shop with a Buckskin. Lincoln plans to pursue a degree in Political Science and Economics from the University of Richmond. Community First Fund Credit Union exists to create financial equity through wealth building opportunities especially for underserved and underbanked families in our community. Luvia Chentut De Paau and her family are Guatemalan refugees living in Lancaster and navigating the complexities of being immigrants in a new country. Challenges for families like Luvia’s are compounded when searching for services available in their native language. Community First Fund’s Spanish-speaking team has worked with Luvia to provide a safe place to deposit money and an avenue for building credit. She is now receiving financial coaching to achieve her dream of buying a home. Anchor Lancaster's mission is to be a good neighbor by providing a hot breakfast and warm showers every weekday while aiding with other essential needs. This includes food, clothing, hot showers, laundry, case management, Day Center and ultimately, unconditional love and respect. Without Anchor's 5-day, 52-weeks per year schedule, many would have no place to eat breakfast, nowhere to get a refreshing shower, coffee, and rest from the cold and heat, nor help them with their innumerable issues.
