Attollo Prep’s mission is to support success-oriented students from diverse backgrounds in their pursuit of academic achievement, self-empowerment, and social engagement. The goal is to see every Attollo Scholar receive a full scholarship to the college of their dreams. Conestoga Valley senior and Attollo participant Yonatanne Desta said, "Attollo provided me with a place in my life where I could academically, mentally, and physically grow as a young adult. This club allowed me to be myself while still maintaining discipline and focusing on my goals.” Yonatanne will be attending John Hopkins on a full-ride scholarship this fall. High Foundation is proud to partner with Attollo Prep to empower the next generation of community leaders. #highfoundation #highcompanies #philanthropy #nonprofit #givingback #education #healthservices #humanservices #artsandculture #historicpreservation #environment #sustainability #socialenterprise #socialgood #dogood #giveback #businessforgood #community #lancasterpa #cityoflancaster #lancastercounty #lancastercity #lancastercountypa

I recently read a data report that stated 56% of middle school students have already decided that they want to pursue a career that they are passionate about. This means that more than half of middle schoolers have already decided that they plan to prepare for their purpose. Give and Partner with the Village Foundation to increase that number from 56% to 100% by 11th grade. Students feel confident when they have the resources they need like tutoring, mentoring, and access to college readiness and career programs. Your gift of any amount helps to make that a reality for students across the nation. Choose to make and impact today! Join us by giving now or making a plan to give Nov 28 on Giving Tuesday. villagefoundationfund.org #takesavillagefff #prepareforpurpose #nonprofits #nonprofitsforyouth #pursuepurpose #youthleadership #youthdevelopment #motivateyouth #youthleadership #youthleaders #futureleaders #manifest #youthmanifest #legacydreamer #leavealegacy #prepareforlegacy #dreamgiver #dreamseeker #firstgenerationgraduate #HBCU #PWI #workforcedevelopment #crushers #mentoring

Without education we are nothing! Education is a powerful tool that can help us achieve our goals, make our dreams come true, and be a part of a better world. It provides stability, financial security, equality, self-dependency, dreams, safety, confidence, society, economic growth, and protection. Education is not just about getting a job and making money, but also about obtaining a deeper knowledge and understanding of a variety of subjects to be applied to daily life. As Nelson Mandela famously said, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” It is a force that allows individuals to reach their potential, to dream bigger dreams and to be more fully engaged with a much bigger world. Education is also the engine of social mobility, the avenue to better and more meaningful work and thus opportunity for one’s family and community. Therefore, it is important to value education and strive to learn as much as we can. Building Children's Creativity is important. You can do this through things like, >Free play >Sensory Stimulation >Arts & Crafts Activities >Reading & Storytelling >Nature Exploration -There are so many ways that we can work with the children in our lives to bring them elements that they can view in a different way. Creativity is vital to the development of children. This article by psychology today helps us to understand more about the benefits- ..."Nurturing creativity can prepare children for an uncertain future. How can we cultivate creative thinking? There are at least five concrete approaches that parents, mentors, coaches, and educators can implement to develop creative thinking in the children in their lives. These suggestions build from a wealth of studies exploring the development of creativity in childhood, and growing literature in economics looks at how to use money and incentives to motivate creativity...." 1. Work on practical skills. Our data show that creative individuals have better practical skills, suggesting that teachers should nurture creativity by cutting back on time spent in "chalk and talk" mode to leave more time for hands-on learning. 2.Reward creativity. Praise genuinely creative work to convey its importance. Remember, though, that creativity is about doing something novel and valuable, so recognition is most appropriate when children produce something new that could also be beneficial. "Students' postsecondary plans are on the line, and some students will, unfortunately, likely pursue other paths if they cannot get the financial aid they need to go to college." Every educator, regardless of background, adds something unique to the classroom. Let us give educators credit for their abilities and passion, not only their ethnicity. That is how we will build a truly inclusive and equitable education system that benefits everyone. Quote from: Griffin, Ashley. (2018). Important contribution to the trust-based philanthropy conversation. Metrics, dashboards, proxies at a distance are are kind of anomie. We as professional grantmakers don’t relate to, know, or trust the community change agents, but we do have data on a screen and can print it out if needed. We are experts. Money spent on us is well spent. Through our intervention, the trend line is up. Our performance review should go well. The alternative, Horvath cautions, may be clubbiness where we fund those we know, people like us, thereby repeating unconscious bias. Solidarity or community across difference, how far we are from that! Calling for trust in philanthropy or a marriage may signal pending divorce. Trust should go as a matter of practice and habit without having to be said, but how far we are from that. Son Chau, MPA, CAP®
“…the decline of civil society fed this more technocratic approach to trying to grasp civil society. We started trusting each other less and trusting the numbers more.” I stumbled on Aaron Horvath’s work a few weeks ago and quite frankly his work is some of the most important research and writing that the nonprofit and philanthropic sector has had in quite some time.
