June is PTSD Awareness Month and today is PTSD Awareness Day. PTSD has had a variety of labels/diagnoses over the years. As our understanding of this complex disorder improves so does our treatment for it. The trauma necessary to cause PTSD can originate from many events, not just combat. These could include an accident, a natural disaster, or an assault. #PTSD #PTSDAwarenessMonth #PTSDAwarenessDay

Heritage Behavioral Health Center's Oasis Day and Resource Center has been serving Decatur, Illinois and surrounding communities since 1999. Oasis builds long-lasting relationships and trust with those who struggle with housing insecurity. Four of our Oasis guests volunteered to share some parts of their story with us and how Oasis has had such a meaningful impact on their lives. We can't thank them enough for their willingness to be involved with this video and help spread the word about the incredible work done at Oasis Day and Resource Center. #HousingInsecurity #Homeless #Homelessness #Oasis #OasisDayAndResourceCenter #Testimonial #Housing #Shelter

On June 19, 1865, nearly two years after President Abraham Lincoln emancipated enslaved Africans in America, Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas with news of freedom. More than 250,000 African Americans embraced freedom by executive decree in what became known as Juneteenth or Freedom Day. With the principles of self-determination, citizenship, and democracy magnifying their hopes and dreams, those Texans held fast to the promise of true liberty for all. Juneteenth Celebrations are happening all over the U.S.A. This year, Juneteenth at The Devon will take place Sunday June 16th from 2-6pm. This is a free event for all ages. #Juneteenth #Juneteenth2024 #FreedomDay #JuneteenthCelebration
