Today we celebrated the grand opening of the new Donelson Library! 📚 The new Donelson branch of the Metro Nashville Public Library system is envisioned as the community centerpiece for this older neighborhood of Nashville. Positioned within Donelson Plaza, a 1960s-era shopping center that has long been an icon of the neighborhood, the library is part of a larger effort to reenergize this unique piece of Nashville’s history. Having outgrown its current facility, the Nashville Public Library commissioned the design-build partnership of HASTINGS and Messer Construction Co. to create a new home to expand its collection and programming for this evolving Nashville neighborhood. This state-of-the-art facility is a true civic anchor, bringing green spaces, public art, and endless opportunities for our community. Today we saw the seeds of hard work and collaboration bloom into something beautiful. StyleBlueprint featured Sycamore House in an article titled, "Look Inside a Tennessee Architect's Dream Home". In the article, Heather Bien writes, "Any architect or designer can tell you they’re often asked what their dream home would look like. David Bailey, FAIA, LEED AP, Principal Architect at HASTINGS, could never answer that question — not because of a lack of inspiration, but because of a firm belief that location guides a successful design." Last week, we celebrated the topping out of the Jim Moran Foundation’s new headquarters in Fort Lauderdale, FL. This event marks a major step forward in the construction of this state-of-the-art, 63,000 SF facility. The five-story building is a connected two-volume structure that features large open floor plates and varied components that include office and program space, shared event space, and archives exhibits. Founded in 2000 by automotive pioneer Jim Moran, the Jim Moran Foundation improves the quality of life for Florida’s youth and families by supporting innovative programs that meet the community’s evolving needs. Over the past two decades, the Foundation has invested over $230 million, continuing its founder’s legacy of generosity and support. We are proud to be part of this transformative project and look forward to seeing its positive impact on the community. Stiles

aspire design and home magazine featured Sycamore House in an article today titled, "Architect David Bailey, FAIA, LEED AP Puts Sustainability At The Forefront Of His Nashville Home". Sycamore House is situated on almost three acres in the established Nashville neighborhood of Green Hills which has many traditional homes. It was important to Bailey that the house not be a ‘sore thumb’ in the community, so he looked to the natural lines and limestone bluffs in the area for guidance. "As I got into (designing) this one, I started realizing this wasn’t going to be a five or 10-year house for us,” said Bailey. “This was for the long haul and we wanted to make good, environmentally-smart, decisions about how this home would be built.” Read the article below!
