Congratulations Briah Barksdale, who was selected in 2023 as our first Harris Scholar from Penn Medicine's PennPREP program. Briah presented her research on the effects of an immunoregulatory protein and its pivotal role in antiviral immune defense during pregnancy at Mount Sinai Health System's Hess Center in New York City. Josh and I are honored to recognize Briah whose dedication to biomedical sciences and work ethic made her a natural fit for Harris Philanthropies' partnership program with Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System. Her research has the potential to make critical advancements in women’s health. We’re thrilled to see Briah start the next chapter of her journey as a student in the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to earn her MD/PhD. Congratulations Briah!
