The Harris County Robert W. Hainsworth Law Library, in partnership with Harris County Public Library, is excited to announce the launch of Legal Access Workspace Pods (LAWPods)! This initiative aims to provide free and convenient access to legal resources for individuals navigating the court system. These LawPods empower individuals with the tools and resources necessary to understand and exercise their legal rights, thereby ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background or financial situation, has access to essential legal assistance. We at Harris County Public Library want to take a moment to remember Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, whose passing was announced Friday evening. The Congresswoman was a long time and ardent supporter of public libraries in general and HCPL in particular. We at HCPL are grateful to the Congresswoman and offer her family and loved ones our sincere condolences. https://bit.ly/3YinaXo

The overwhelming response towards our efforts to have out libraries open with full services and as cooling centers in the wake of Hurricane Beryl is nothing short of amazing. We strive everyday to provide access to what our communities need most, in the good and tough times. We had people of all ages come to our open branches to cool off, work, relax, recharge, and recover. If you are still in need of assistance, please visit our Emergency Preparedness page to find links that can help: https://bit.ly/3CLv67o We also want to take a moment to offer our heartfelt gratitude to all HCPL team members who stepped up last week and throughout the weekend to ensure that all the libraries that could be opened were open. Many of the folks working the libraries were struggling, along with thousands of other area residents, with power outages, storm damage, and other issues in the wake of Hurricane Beryl. Your dedication to helping Harris County residents is truly felt.

Good morning, Day 3 Points of Light #PointsofLight24! After a full day of sessions, we hung out yesterday with superheroes from Curiosity Cruiser, Harris County Public Library, and Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, as well as friends from the Little Free Library and Volunteer Odyssey! We ate some delicious Persian food at Miri's Kitchen, followed by amazing fellowship and Day 2 reflections at Behind Closed Doors on the programming related to #NationalService, #YouthService, #Volunteerism, #VolunteerEngagement, #CivicEngagement, #CommunityEngagement, #Sustainability, and #SocialImpact in the City of Houston! We look forward to more connections, learning, and new friendships at this conference hosted by Volunteer Houston and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston!
