New York’s homeownership rate is one of the nation’s lowest at 54%. That number is even lower for low-to moderate-income families (just 35%). With housing costs continuing to rise, nearly half of New Yorkers spend more than 30% of their income on rent, unable to save for homeownership. That’s why we remain steadfast in our mission to create affordable homeownership opportunities by advocating for proposals like the City of Yes for Housing Opportunity and developing projects like Mosaic in Brooklyn and Stevenson Square in the Bronx. We're delighted to share that our long-awaited Haven Green project is officially moving forward! A unique senior housing development, Haven Green will create 123 units of vital healthy, affordable homes, with specific focus on LGBTQ+-affirmative housing and services in Little Italy.   Informed by an ongoing participatory design process with the local community, this energy-efficient development will include a 16,000 square foot public garden space, community activity space, community services, and services specific to elderly LGBTQ+ residents and neighbors.

What a way to kick off National Homeownership Month by breaking ground on our new Mosaic development! ✨ Mosaic consists of 13 co-ops scattered throughout central Brooklyn, which will become home to over 40 hardworking New York families. With NYC's homeownership rate at 33%—significantly below the 66% national average—affordable homeownership opportunities like Mosaic are vital to the solution. Placed on the Interboro Community Land Trust, these homes will remain affordable for future generations. Mosaic is a scattered site affordable homeownership development, consisting of 42 affordable housing cooperative units across 13 sites in Weeksville, Bedford Stuyvesant, and Brownsville.
