This week, GWI is excited to feature Marketing Director and employee since 2010, Colin Haley. As Marketing Director, Colin's core role is managing and overseeing the overall marketing efforts of the main brand and its subsidiaries, from strategy to execution. He also collaborates with other senior staff and key company stakeholders for the strategic direction of the company and its governance. In his 14-year tenure at GWI, Colin also handled Government Affairs, assisted current Chief Strategy Officer, Fletcher Kittredge, and at one point had even moonlighted as the Office Manager. Colin, when asked what he likes best about GWI responded; “Being that I have been with GWI for so long, I must like something, right? GWI is unique in many ways. In particular, the way the company handles its employees with respect and openness. From the top down, employees are consistently communicated with about current activities and future endeavors. It is an organization that genuinely cares about their staff.” Outside of work, Colin enjoys spending time with his wife, Tori, and their two dogs, Walter and Bruce. All four are pictured in this post on Colin’s wedding day as bride, groom, and groomsmen, as well as relaxing at home. GWI thanks Colin for his years of service to GWI and the teams he has served. #GWI #locallyowned #broadband #supportlocal #employeehighlight #bcorporation

This week, GWI is excited to highlight Network Engineer and employee since 2007, Shawn Guillemette. As a Network Engineer, Shawn helps ensure network components are prepared and ready when new business and residential customers are onboarded, as well as monitoring and responding to network events in a timely manner, all the while minimizing impact to customers when such events occur. Shawn is also a GWI activities committee member, periodically helping bring fun and team building events into the workplace. In his long tenure at GWI, Shawn also worked in our customer support team supporting customers with legacy GWI products, as well as in Field Services, and in just about every department, working hard to help deliver GWI services to as many homes and communities in need for the past 17 years. When asked what Shawn likes best about GWI, he responded “GWI feels like a family focused employer and the environment matches. I enjoy going to work every day and feeling like I have accomplished goals that will make an impact in the communities we serve.” Outside of work, Shawn enjoys spending time with family and friends, including his four children and two grandchildren, as well as with his wife, best friend, and constant of 26 years, Sue. “In my off time I enjoy time with the family, riding my Harley, and working in my lab building my knowledge and experience so I can better assist our customers and stay as current as I can with new technologies.” GWI thanks Shawn for his years of lending his service, expertise, and dedication to his work and craft in multiple facets of our company. #employeehighlight #GWI #certifiedbcorporation #bcorp #mainebased #supportlocal #telecommunications

The town of Islesboro, Maine recently gathered to vote on important topics relevant to their town's future. One vote in particular affected their broadband connection, which is owned by the town, but operated and maintained by GWI. Article 56 passed on June 15, and according to John Rex-Waller of the Islesboro Municipal Broadband Committee, "will allow the IMB Committee on behalf of the town, to try to negotiate a contract with GWI, which has been our provider for the last seven years or so." Rex-Waller later described GWI's work with Islesboro as having been an "enormous success," to which "mostly people have responded very well." For all intents and purposes, the town's partnership with GWI would maintain its current status.
