Graham & Walker's very own Leslie Feinzaig in Fortune today on why she believes in meritocracy and invests in underrepresented founders. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g-Y2NvDe

I’ve been told that I’d never raise a VC fund because I’m a woman. I’ve also been told that raising my fund was easier because I’m a woman. Meanwhile, my male counterparts, who outnumber women in the space about nine times over, raise funds an order of magnitude larger in less than half the time I did. Whether you believe that any of my achievements are because of, or in spite of, those pieces of my identity that make me stand out in my space - that has less to do with me, and more to do with how you see the world. And either way you think about it—because of, or in spite of—has the same consequence: It erases me from my own accomplishments. This erasure is in large part why many who are underrepresented in the most competitive professions, but who are otherwise stereotypical type A overachievers, tend to walk around with a massive chip on their shoulders. And that chip on their shoulders is exactly why I love investing in them. My latest for Fortune. https://lnkd.in/g9Vu-fwv

🚀 Big congratulations to Tiya Gordon and Nathan L. King, the brilliant founders of itselectric on successfully closing their Seed round! 🎉 We are incredibly proud to be investors in such a visionary and transformative company🌱 Check out the full article on Fortune to learn more about their exciting journey and groundbreaking work in electric vehicle charging: https://lnkd.in/e7DuKYNf Here’s to a bright and electrifying future! ⚡️ #investment #startups #evcharging #itselectric #innovation #sustainability
🎉 itselectric, a Brooklyn-based electric vehicle curbside charging company, today announced its $6.5M seed round. The raise was led by Failup Ventures and Uber. With participation from Halogen Ventures, Partnership for New York City, Pulse Fund, Newlab, Gratitude Railroad, Tale Venture Partners, The Equity Alliance, Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) Impact Fund, and The Helm will support deployments across seven cities in the United States in 2024, including Boston, Los Angeles, Detroit, Jersey City, and San Francisco. With fresh funding, itselectric’s curbside charging infrastructure will also help support Uber’s goal of helping rideshare drivers go electric. 🌎 2023 was the hottest year on record with transportation being the third largest contributor of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. But transportation is also a sector where the choice to drive electric will create a collective difference. Our mission is to make charging easy, convenient, and affordable not only for drivers, but for cities, providing the pathway for everyone to go electric. “itselectric has designed an innovative public charging solution that addresses the infrastructural barriers that cities face in the deployment of electric vehicle curbside charging,” said Topias Soininen, general partner at Failup Ventures. “Their thoughtfully designed chargers are a highly scalable solution that will rapidly bring curbside charging to the millions of city drivers who park on the street and contribute to the nationwide adoption of electric vehicles.” "We are thrilled to invest in itselectric as part of our push for an all-electric future,” said Camiel Irving, GM of Uber US & Canada. "Electric rideshare drivers cut emissions up to four times more than regular motorists, but many lack off-street parking and home charging options. itselectric is innovating to address this and expand overnight curbside charging, helping more drivers confidently go electric, ease range anxiety, and boost earnings potential." “itselectric is revolutionizing urban infrastructure,” said Jesse Draper founding partner, Halogen Ventures. “Their mission to bring highly accessible curbside charging combined with economic benefits to urban communities, offers an innovative solution for a problem we need to urgently solve. We’re incredibly excited about itselectric as they expand across cities to make sustainable transportation a reality across the nation” Read the full story in Fortune https://lnkd.in/e7DuKYNf

We are SO PROUD of the Batch 5 founders who have powered through the Catalyst program over the past three weeks. We've been blown away by their eagerness to learn, grow, and take their companies to the next level, together. A special shoutout to Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Lily Yuen Xu for capping off our program with an incredibly powerful session on fundraising bias. It was a wake-up call and a motivator—a perfect, thought-provoking, and actionable workshop to wrap an amazing program. To our wonderful mentors, speakers, and coaches, THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity, time, and expertise have been invaluable in shaping the futures of these dynamo founders. To our community: Keep your eyes peeled for these trailblazers as they embark on their fundraising journeys. Let’s rally behind them, support female founders, and work together to INVEST ✊ IN ✊ FEMALE ✊ FOUNDERS! To our partners: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Antares Capital LP, Cooley LLP, SVB- thank you for ensuring we can provide high-quality programming like this free for all founders. Your support allows us to do what we do best. Thank you. Let’s keep this momentum going! 🚀✨ CC: Leslie Feinzaig, Divya Kakkad, Jenna Winocur
