LACI currently has an open RFI seeking respondents with a technology or service that can support cities' drive toward zero emission delivery, across any leg of the supply chain. The goal is to then match cities' unique needs with what the private sector has to offer. RFI will close on 7/24. Please encourage any companies that may fit the bill to respond, or DM us if you have any questions. Excited to keep growing the green economy! In partnership with Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and Climate Resolve, we were delighted to welcome the new LADWP CEO & Chief Engineer, Janisse Quiñones PE to our home in the LADWP-owned La Kretz Innovation Campus for a reception last night. Janisse is off to an exciting start in her first two months at the helm of LADWP and we were fortunate to hear a bit about her commitment to building a clean and equitable energy future for the people of Los Angeles. With similarly inspiring remarks from Deputy Mayor Nancy Sutley, Climate Resolve Executive Director Jonathan Parfrey, and LACI CEO & President Matt Petersen, the event brought together a host of sustainability leaders from across the region to share ideas and project a vision for more sustainable and prosperous communities. We look forward to many more years of steadfast partnership and collaboration! Join us on Wednesday, July 10 from 10:00am - 11:00am to learn about our pilot findings and recommendations for those seeking to support greater residential decarbonization efforts. LACI has partnered with The Energy Coalition and Day One to retrofit 18 low-median income single-family homes and 1 community center in and near the Avocado and Bassett Heights Neighborhood, which is disproportionately burdened by poor air quality. Hear about best practices for engaging community members to adopt induction stoves, the reasons participants chose to make the switch, as well as the barriers we faced. 🔗 Register for this virtual event: laci.la/InductionPilot

In May, LACI received $1 million in federal Community Project Funding secured by Representative Jimmy Gomez for upgrades to LACI's home at Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's La Kretz Innovation Campus (LKIC). Christopher Kalaw, graduate of LACI's Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Project Management Training Course, spoke about his experience at the La Kretz Innovation Campus. "We learned about applying project management methodologies to EV Infrastructure projects from start to finish as well as attaining career development tips throughout the process. I have applied project management practices I've learned at LACI in my current role as the Sustainability Assistant at the LA Memorial Coliseum," said Christopher. Not only did LACI allow for Christopher to expand his cleantech knowledge in a world-class facility, but it also allowed him to learn alongside his mother, Elizabeth Mancilla who also attended the course. "What's great about the program was that it gave both my mother and myself the opportunity to learn about pertinent topics in the clean tech industry without going through a traditional four year university course of study." With this newfound knowledge, both Christopher and Elizabeth are on their way to being change-makers in the sustainability industry.

In our latest blog post, LACI CEO and President Matt Petersen breaks down the benefits of the Advanced Prototyping Center (APC), one of our prized offerings at the La Kretz Innovation Campus. With technically-savvy LACI staff on site and machinery that includes a 3D printing shop, laser cutters, water jet, and so much more, the APC is a place where startups bring their hardware ideas to life. In short, for startups looking for a one-stop shop for ideating, designing, building, and testing new clean technology products, the APC is the place to be! The APC primarily supports LACI startups, but non-LACI startups can also apply for APC membership to gain access to these key resources. Read the blog ⤵️

LACI has teamed up with the Accelerator for America, Milken Institute, and Climate Mayors to release an RFI to identify priority clean energy and transportation electrification projects from cities in California to help municipalities leverage historic federal climate funding, including from the U.S. EPA's Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF). A large portion of the GGRF is the National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF), which will deploy $14 billion, through selected financial institutions, to deliver accessible and affordable financing for projects nationwide that advance the nation’s climate objectives. ⚡Electrifying News!⚡ LACI is excited to congratulate Nidia Erceg on being appointed by Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom as the nation's first state Zero Emission Vehicle Equity Advocate. Thank you Lena A. Gonzalez, MBA for authoring SB1251 in 2022 which created the position to advance equity-centered ZEV charging and vehicle deployment, and to Governor Newsom for signing the bill and appointing Nidia as part of Dee Dee Myers team at GO-Biz! LACI was proud to propose and sponsor the legislation to create the role as well as aligning equity definitions, goals and programs for ZEVs across all state agencies. The filling of the new position marks another win for LACI's public-private Transportation Electrification Partnership, which continues to advance equity via policy as well as business model and technology pilots. LACI also thanks our equity and EJ partners across the state who helped shape the legislation and joined the coalition to advocate for the bill, including: EVHybridNoire, Communities for a Better Environment, Pacoima Beautiful, Watts Clean Air and Energy Committee, GreenLatinos, Fresno Metro Black Chamber of Commerce, The Climate Center, Cleantech San Diego.

🌊🔋 Yesterday, the Port of Los Angeles agreed to invest $12.5 million across eight charging stations in Southern California, including one site identified in our 710 Blueprint! In total, these projects amount to $68 million dollars and 114 chargers along the 710 Corridor, getting us closer to our TEP Roadmap goals of $280 million and 750 chargers by 2028. These projects are co-funded by the Port of Long Beach and the MSRC. Three cheers for collaboration! 🥳 🔗 Don't forget to check out the TEP Roadmap: https://lnkd.in/gNXiBcFC
