Government Relations Services
Leading the digital transformation of the UK government.
About us
The Government Digital Service (GDS) is part of the Cabinet Office, and we are here to design and protect the user experience of digital government for everyone. We’re known for our ability to deliver exceptional digital initiatives at pace, right from the centre of government. And GDS is where talent translates into impact. From your first day, you’ll be working with some of the world’s most highly-skilled digital professionals, all contributing their knowledge to make change on a national scale. We are a team of around 750 product managers, software engineers, designers, researchers, technical architects and other specialists. We’re based in London, Manchester, Bristol and in our home offices. Join us for rewarding work that makes a difference across the UK. You'll solve some of the nation’s highest-priority digital challenges, helping millions of people access services they need. You could work on GOV.UK, the award-winning digital hub of government information and services. Or the career-defining challenge of creating a single sign-in for all government services, with One Login. You could also be part of the team building a host of platforms, products and tools designed to create great public services that are accessible, inclusive and easy to use. And as you make an impact at GDS, you’ll be supported by an inclusive workplace with world-class learning provision, and a flexible, hybrid approach you can shape around your needs.

Jennifer Marks, Head of Digital Sustainability for the GOV.UK One Login programme has just spoken at the AWS Summit. "Delving into the vital topic of Digital Sustainability was inspiring. As Head of Digital Sustainability, I'm passionate about the intersection of technology and environmental responsibility. Together, let's harness the power of digital innovation to drive sustainability forward." Jennifer discussed GOV.UK One Login's digital sustainability ambition, design principles, and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These are all key in GOV.UK One Login's long term goal of being one of the most sustainable government programmes. Thanks to all who joined the discussion! #AWSSummit #DigitalSustainability

Technology Transformation, Capability Building & Data Innovation – Complex Programme Delivery - Public & Private Sector
It was a real privilege and an honour to attend this convening last week at The White House, along with colleagues from 10 Downing Street, Government Digital Service and Cabinet Office, as well as friends and colleagues from 🇺🇦🇩🇪🇨🇦🇦🇿🇹🇹🇸🇬 The mission, drive and generosity of the US federal government digital leadership (Clare Martorana, Robin Carnahan, Mina Hsiang and many others) is truly inspiring. Here are my two favourite quotes I learned last week: “Don't tell me what you value, show me your budget, and I'll tell you what you value.” - Joe Biden “A ship in port is safe, but that’s not what ships are built for.” - Grace Hopper (1906-1992), computer scientist 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇺🇦

At GDS, each month, we hold our Speaker Series & Show The Thing. These are talks from inspiring individuals across digital, data and tech and exciting showcases and updates from teams across GDS. These sessions give everyone at GDS the opportunity to learn from others and build their expertise. This month, here’s 5 sessions we learned from: 1️⃣ Gulsanna Mamediieva, CEO of Digitality GovTech, showed us the incredible work that has gone into Ukraine’s Diia app, used by 20 million Ukrainians. As advocates of more proactive, personalised and joined-up digital government enabled by app technology, it was great to see work by other leading digital nations. 2️⃣ Adam Robertson shared interesting work we’ve been progressing with GOV.UK Forms including testing with neurodivergent users. 3️⃣ Catriona Fraser showcased the work GDS has been doing to enhance GOV.UK site search to help users find more relevant information. 4️⃣ Patrick Berkeley shared important plans of our new Engineering Enablement team to help ensure we are managing our tools in an integrated, efficient way that supports colleagues.. 5️⃣ Owen Jones, Matt Hill and Rebecca Cottrell highlighted work to ensure GOV.UK typography is accessible to as many users as possible and scales well to screen size.

Thank you to Eleigh Brewer, for her insightful talk to our staff about neurodiversity. Eleigh shared her personal experiences with a diagnosis of ADHD, the many strengths she has, workplace coping strategies that have supported her and advice relating to the challenges faced by many neurodivergent people. This was organised by the GDS Neurodiversity Network which aims to attract and retain neurodiverse talent by focusing on neurodiverse-friendly recruitment practices and the working culture at Government Digital Service. #Neurodiversity
