Meet David Leonard, Goodwill San Antonio’s longest tenured employee at 38 years! 👋 David is a Goodwill Technology Reboot (GTR) Specialist at our Donated Goods Retail Operations Center. David’s job is to take technology that is donated to our stores and repurpose and reboot it before sending them off to find their new home. 💻 Since 1986, David has enjoyed his time at Goodwill and continues to positively impact our organization. “I enjoy everything here at Goodwill. From rock bottom, to redemption: Meet Matthew! 👋 After retiring from the oil field, he was bored at home and battling alcoholism, a disease that gradually took over his life. “I was at a point in my life where I lost everything,” said Matthew. “My marriage was falling apart, and I ran out of spots to go. And that’s when I landed homeless and at Haven for Hope.” Fast forward three years later, and Matthew is now on the verge of a remarkable achievement. Meet Jose! 👋🎓 Affected by the pandemic, Jose was seeking a fresh start. In his quest for change, fate led him to the Good Careers Academy to restart his journey in healthcare. 🩺 “I was starting from zero," said Jose. "One day I headed out of the house to look for the resources and educational opportunities needed to fulfill my vision. The Good Careers Academy has equipped me and guided me. The support structure they provided enabled me to complete the Certified Clinical Medical Assistants training program successfully.” As part of Jose’s curriculum requirements, he needed to complete 160 externship hours. With the support from the Good Careers Academy, he not only successfully completed his externship but also secured a full-time position at the clinic where he trained! 🏥 Congratulations, Jose!
