Thrilled to share we were in the The New York Times this week as an example of a #transportation solution that’s helping #agefriendly cities offer subsidized rides for #olderadults and those with #disabilities. In addition to offering our direct-to-consumer model since 2016, GoGoGrandparent has partnered with 250 health systems, retirement communities, nonprofits & government partners and counting across the U.S, focused on helping their communities age #independently through subsidized GoGoGrandparent #rides. But what does that really mean? It means more older adults are able to get to their scheduled doctor's appointments without asking for a favor or paying for a taxi. It means more people with disabilities can participate in #community events or visit their friends across town, helping reduce social #isolation. It’s always more than just a ride. While GoGoGrandparent was originally created with #olderadults in mind, GoGo is also a helpful solution for those in the #disability community. We serve tens of thousands of people who are #blind or have #lowvision , many of whom are under 60 years old, because GoGo creates #access to reliable services that support #independentliving. Some GoGo features that are especially helpful to customers are blind or have low vision include: ✔ A phone number to order on-demand or scheduled rides ✔ Asking drivers to announce themselves to the rider and confirm details. ✔ Sharing a description of what riders are carrying or wearing to help the driver more easily find each other. ✔ Texting and calling riders to let them know when the driver is nearby. ✔ Notifying drivers if riders have a guide dog or ambulatory equipment, and much more. 📣 We're thrilled to share that GoGoGrandparent is now in Australia! In partnership with Uber Health, older adults and people with #disabilities in Australia can now call GoGoGrandparent at 13 4628 to book rides with Uber without the need for a smartphone or the Uber app. By combining GoGoGrandparent's specialized customer support for #olderadults with Uber Health’s vast mobility network, this collaboration seeks to revolutionize the way older Australians, like Tony Sullivan, travel. Tony Sullivan, 79, is a retired English and Economics teacher who lives 30 minutes outside of Brisbane. He no longer drives, so when he recently had a doctor’s appointment downtown, he considered his options. Other private services could be expensive and public options often have specific hours that could sometimes keep him out all day. Tony Sullivan said GoGo is more convenient because you can get it any time. “I took it to and from the appointment and arrived on time,” said Sullivan. “It was excellent service. I just have to press a few digits on my phone and a car picks me up as soon as possible, which is really simple. I’ve been really happy with this new option.
