Global Leadership League reposted this
The past five years have been challenging for universities around the world. Massive changes have had wide and disparate impacts – for HE, they continue to inject an uncommonly large amount of existential risk, writes Charlie Ianuzzi. https://hubs.li/Q02HZ2L80

Writing well helps you advance in your career, not just because people are persuaded by the insights you convey in a piece of writing but because writing helps you generate those insights in the first place. Writing helps you think. Whether you want to start a Substack, write for academic journals, produce a report, design a program, or create a social media campaign, you need to start with telling a story. In this workshop, attendees will engage in ‘find the story’ writing exercises from the field of creative nonfiction that can help your writing in any project become more composed: clearer, more textured, more meaningful. This workshop is hosted by Dana Tottenham, Ed.D., with presenter Amy Muse. In the latest submission to Sophia Confidential, Worn Out by Over and Over writes: “I'm exhausted from always having to respond over and over to questions about decisions. I consult with others, including my team members, about matters before making decisions, when relevant. There are too many decisions to make to have consensus-decision-making for every single decision so I use a mixture of consensus, consultative, and, rarely, authoritative decision-making. I spend a ridiculous amount of time responding to requests for clarity and additional information or just directly asking the same question over and over (by email, then by Slack, then in a virtual meeting 1x1, then in a virtual meeting with others)...” Here’s a sneak peek at Sophia’s response: “Balance is so tricky, isn't it? On the one hand, we’ve made great progress in the workforce from the days when a manager made a decision, and everyone had to accept it with no questions asked. The dictatorship model has fortunately become less and less acceptable (though it definitely still exists). On the other hand, there seems to be a growing sense of entitlement among staff members that everyone should have a voice in all decision-making...” For Sophia’s full response, go to: https://lnkd.in/dKXRExyC Comment below on what advice you would give Worn Out by Over and Over! #SophiaConfidential #WorkplaceDilemma #Leadership #GlobalLeadership

There is still time to register for the next cycle of the Career Connections Program by Monday, July 15th! The program is designed for League members at all stages in their career to “seek guidance” or “provide encouragement” as part of a pair, where one member acts as a guide, informally helping the other member to explore new perspectives and ways of thinking about a professional topic or career-related goal. This networking opportunity is an easy way to volunteer a few hours of time to support a fellow League member while gaining mentorship experience (as a Guide) and/or to receive guidance in working toward a professional goal or next career step (as an Explorer). Guide/Explorer pairs connect with one another over a 3-4 month cycle. You can sign up as a Guide, an Explorer, or both! 15 July 2024 - Registration 1 August 2024 - Program Starts An Ongoing Online Event https://lnkd.in/gXSTVuif #LinkUpWithTheLeague #GlobalLeadershipLeague #CareerConnections #Community #GlobalLeadership #EducationAbroad
