It is a pivotal day for the transition to a low-carbon economy!🌱🎉 GEC's implementation of the Ultra Low Carbon Solar Criteria (ULCS) for the Solar category of EPEAT electronics ecolabel marks a significant turning point in our journey towards a more sustainable solar supply chain. By requiring newly registered solar modules to meet the low carbon solar threshold and rewarding those that go above and beyond with the prestigious EPEAT Climate+ designation, we're paving the way for a greater focus on reducing the manufacturing impacts related to the industry. Together, let's celebrate this game-changing initiative and continue our collective efforts to build a sustainable world for generations to come! Advancing sustainable electronics by leveraging the power of the purchaser.
About us
Global Electronics Council (GEC), formerly known as the Green Electronics Council, is a mission-driven non-profit launched in 2006 and dedicated to creating a more just and sustainable world. Our focus on electronics is due to our recognition that electronics have become increasingly pervasive, finding their way into products within our home, car, clothing, toys and even the watches we wear. While the technologies that rely on electronics can provide tremendous societal good, they are also the source of significant negative environmental and social impacts. GEC acts as the fulcrum point between the institutional purchasers who buy electronics and the manufacturers who produce them. We support large-scale purchasers, both public and private, with tools and resources. By deciding to buy sustainable technology, institutional purchasers leverage their towards creating a more sustainable and just world.
